Having never faced the perils of war but having strong supportive feelings for our military I have made up my mind. Below is a petition circulation that may start help to protect our troops when their judgment is pushed to the limit. They can not fight with their hands tied, true they must exorcise prudence. But I also feel we are not engaging an enemy that adhere to no rules, they kill and mane civilians in the false name of Islam. In no way should the normal rules of war apply. The precedent must be set!

Our soldiers are there to kill the enemy, that is their job. If they don't want them to kill the enemy, then bring them home.

When was the last time we faced a enemy that followed "normal rules of war".

I think that the only way that the young man in the news would face any punishment, is if his own goverment uses his punishment to apeace to Arab world. And if that is the reason, no internet letter with a bunch of names is going to matter.

This was sent to me earlier today and I think it covers this topic perfectly!

Comment from 'A Few Good Men'. Marines

It's a good thing Marines are so well trained in rifle marksmanship. otherwise
Kevin Sites (NBC film photographer) may have been hit by a stray round or two
by now.

Would someone point out to the press that Marines aren't Police. They're not
there to 'serve and protect'. They are there to "meet the enemy and destroy
their will to fight." The Marines are very good at that. There's no niceties
involved there. They don't issue Marines handcuffs, tasers, mace or night
sticks. They don't get lessons on crowd control. They are issued rifles and are
expected to use them. They don't have the ability to choose the level of
restraint. No Marine in battle needs to be second guessing about when to shoot -
that could get him and/or other Marines killed. And our enemy needs to know
that there will be only one outcome whenever he faces our United States
Marines. his death. No Question!

This battle wouldn't be half as hard if the damn media were on our side!

Semper Fi. I think they should give that Marine a medal. I'm glad he shot that
towel-headed bastard. Should have shot that cameraman (Kevin Sites, NBC) too!
Who's side is he on anyway? The press makes me sick. They film something, show
it over and over again to agitate and provoke the enemy. When another Marine
dies, you can thank that moron cameraman (Sites).

Don't forget these Combat Rules:
If it can move, it can kill you, kill it.
If it may move, it may kill you, kill it.
If someone might come along and move it, it could be used to kill you, blow it
up.
And keep politicians and reporters out of the War because they will get you
killed!

Is there any organized effort to target NBC News for that horrible broadcast of
this incomplete story and film? There should be! The embedded journalist may
have had a more complete story. However, NBC chose to release a partial story
that will provoke the enemy and will cause the deaths of additional Marines and
Soldiers. Due to the irresponsible, Al-Jazeera like reporting, NBC News should
be considered a co-conspirator with those Iraqi insurgents and be punished. NBC
and the other news media should be exposed for their treasonous acts they
commit and be made to pay.

The young Marine that shot the wounded insurgent was doing his job. "Sorry
MF'er, it's you or me and I'm not ready to go!" The strong survive. That Marine
should go down as an American Hero! Let's make sure of it!

That poor 'grunt' was doing his job, and in fact, may have saved the lives of
his fellow Marines and that S.O.B. reporter by sending another one of those

I think the cameraman should be sent in first then the Marines. Maybe there
would be some difference in the story telling and maybe no pictures aiding the
enemy!

The American people need to wake up!!! Those rabid Islamic terrorists have no

Let ALL Americans join together and stand with the young Marine that 'killed
the enemy'. Civilians will never know what goes on in combat, will never know
how Marines feel in battle. God protect the Marines. Semper Fi!

The pride of the Marine Corps is that we are ruthless in Combat against the
enemy but remain compassionate to civilians. In a war where the enemy hides
among the non-combatants, this becomes extremely difficult. And if a Marine
hesitates, he becomes dead. His fellow Marines can become dead. I think the
Marine did the right thing. 'Nuff said.

A recent news clip about the Marine that killed a wounded Iraqi insurgent; it
is funny how many people have forgotten what happened 9/11. How many innocent
people were killed by these terrorists. They were never given a chance to
defend themselves, were they? Those 'bunny huggers' that think the Marines
actions warrant prosecution need to be sent over and let them deal with those 3
S.O.B.'s that kill the innocent and show no remorse. Marines know they may
serve in a 'kill-or-be-killed" situation. That NBC reporter was there for a
paycheck. The more **** he stirs up, the worse the stink, translates to more
money for him. It also means more Marines will be killed. Take the camera out
of the reporters hands, replace it with a weapon. Let him see, feel, face the
reality of war and know the truth about the survival instinct of a United
States Marine.

The media is making a big thing of a Marine killing a wounded insurgent. If I
walked into a room filled with the enemy that had been trying to kill me and my
buddies for the past few days, and found one still alive, I'd make sure he
wasn't alive for long. If it moved, I'd shoot it 'til it stopped! That's
called 'DOING MY JOB!' for a Marine. You 'bleedin' hearts get over it!

The old saying 'walk a mile in my shoes' seems appropriate here. Those that
never served do not need to critize the Marines action. They are free to enjoy
the freedom that this young American Marine is willing to die to protect. They
are allowed to benefit without having to experience the high cost to purchase
and keep our American way of life. When the 'peaceniks' condemn a Marine for
killing the enemy and strive to make war humane, they will find out that war is
only humane for those not willing to participate in it. I will not condemn this
Marines actions. Nor will I try to interfere with those voicing opinions I
disagree with, after all, Marines fight and die so we can have a nation where
the citizens enjoy 'freedom of speech'.

Just how close up should reporting be! Being so close up I believe it jeopardizes our troops, war is war to survive we must be able to fight. The terrorists fight no holds barred but we should fight with our hands tied by the media. 9/11 and the many incidents that have followed should be clear evidence of what we are against.
Imbedded cameramen should not be allowed to transmit live video, they should not be allowed to show where and how we are building up for an offensive. I say let us know what happened after it happens, and yes the media needs to sensor some of it content. How do we fight a clean war against the dirtiest foe ever!
