View Full Version : Closed Cooling Thoughts

As my boat is apart I have the opportunity to spend more money . . :rlol:
This is a 1969 Corsican SBF 302 with a Bravo, just in case you forgot or didn't already know :)

So I want to add a closed loop coooling system, but have several goals.
a. Retain all H&M parts, except the Jabsco pump which is mounted on flimsy brackets. This will be replaced with:http://www.cpperformance.com/products/Cooling_System/crankshaft-pumps.htm
Or... Do I retain the Jabsco as H&M built it for originality??
b. Hide all heat exchangers.
c. Keep the look as "original" as possible.

So my thought was to use an electric water pump for circulation.

But this pump would replace the H&M T fitting at the block inlet . . so my thoughts were to use either of these;

http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=141540&prmenbr=361

I like the later as it's construction might be more marine compatible. Running an electric pump for cooling on a boat . . what are the thoughts?? Will it take the pounding and be reliable?

I'll have more questions coming. :eek!: as I debate removing the stock PS set up from the Bravo , move to external PS, and return the H&M logs to their original orientation??

Time for a :beer:

Buizilla has been running the Meziere pumps he should have good input the link is below. GCarter used an in line came out very neat looking. I have been thinking about one for awhile and have asked around with positive input so far. I will be running F/W cooling on the 383 with the stock pump for now budget is tight.

Mario, I'm using an inline Maziere because with my intake manifold, I needed a bypass, so this is how I accomplished it.
I built a neat little bracket that incorporated the Mercury fuel filter and electrical bracket. I think the heat exchanger can be mounted remotely. http://www.oceaneastmarine.com/ for the H.E., and http://www.meziere.com/2003_catalog/16.pdf
I used the WP336 pump that has a duty cycle of over 1400 hours. It draws only 7 amps.
Here's a thread http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?t=36703 look at post #63. :smash:
