When Polishing aluminum, what do you coat it with that will keep it shiny longer and also protect it.

Try Waxing Frenzy "Shark Tower" polish itreally gets it shiney and protects longer than any other product I have used. :biggrin.:

In salt you really have to keep after it but it looks great, I have seen a few that were shot with clear, does not look as good as polished but holds up pretty decent. Clear powder coating looks decent from the few I have seen.

Just polished up the exhuast on the x-18 today and coated it with Flitz, Flitz is the best for polishing/removing all kinds of stuff, even surface rust or corrosion!! It also provides some protection, but I dunno how long it will last on the aluminum though...

It works GREAT on SS Exhuast and SS tips!!

Where do you buy Flitz?

Though I would welcome anywhere anyone finds that is less expensive...

Most all boat stores have it, and I think Wal-mart may even have it now...it is expensive but well worth it

I use Mothers white Aluminum polish in the red and white can.
I've been using the stuff since 1978 and found it to stand up the best, from my motorcycle parts to boat stuff. "rub it long enough" by mach, or hand:eek: and you'll think the alum was chrome plated except it won't chip. :D

As mentioned, clear powder coat m'man, clear powder coat...

The auto industry (I know you already know this Scot :biggrin.: :bonk: ) uses clear powder coat on polished aluminum wheels. A big asset on salty winter roads up here. :canada: After a few winters some vehicles will show signs of oxidation on those same wheels when not rinsed properly.

On a boat however, you likely wont have that same problem since we're all 'anal' about our rides.

Take care!

The company I work with makes a product called Strike-Hold. It's a cleaner/lubricant/protectant & penetrant all in one. We developed it for the Military to clean, lube and protect their weapons over in the war but now we have many marinas and auto shops using the stuff to remove rusty parts, clean rust off metal and to lube and protect. This is the only product working for our troops and we are now just getting into the marine market. This stuff will not hurt rubber paint or plastic and will not wash off with salt water. Plus it leaves a completely dry film that doesn't attract dirt or dust. You can even use it on electrical contacts and connections to protect them from moisture and corrosion which makes it extremely useful on boats and trailers. I use this stuff on everything and I'll never use WD-40 or any other product again.

Cleaning and polishing aluminum is a bitch but this stuff is working for me and I'm not just saying that 'cause I work with the company.

That stuff looks like something I want on my shelf, hopefully I can talk local supply house into carrying it. I updated link as the other would not work for me.

Check out www.hellerglanz.com, there clearner/wax works well on marine and auto finishes. The all metal polish worked well on the stainless on my 22.

I'll have to approach the porn industry, I don't know why I didn't think of that sooner! Maybe I can get Ron Jeremy to promote it!

It's good stuff. I'm going up to the Port of Tampa tomorrow to visit a few companies. The Port Authority is using it, along with several compaies located throughout the port to maintain their equipment, vehicles and outdoor electrical contacts/connections and lighting. If ya have any questions let me know.

LMAO!! :rlol: :biggrin.:

Please don't ask Toona if she has an opinion on this stuff.
I don't think my gut can stand anymore laughing.

Oh, have no fear, I have no questions.

I know all about lubricants.

My only real opinion is that the manufacturing and attendant applications are the most important qualities in determining an effective product...

Bunches,

Celene "but I am curious about Barry's link to Heller's Glands..."

I have used the Strike-Hold and Kroil. We prefer the Kroil all around, but the Strike stuff seems to do pretty good.
