Well I just completed my summer project about three weeks
ago having the 260 Mercruiser totally rebuilt from the bottom up. Block was bored out, lined bored, blue print and balanced
new pistons, rods, cam (350 hp) new set of World Heads
#1225s, stainless steel valves 2.02 intakes, 1.60 exhaust.
This puppy was done right and running real strong. Have about
10 hours on it since installed.
Took the day off on Tuesday to go for a nice ride. Running real well UNTIL I hit a semi submerged log in the river I
was running in the boat went over it but didn't clear the drive
and split the dam thing in half !!! My season just came to an
end in the blink of an eye.

I was hopeing you we're referring to the log when you said "split the thing in half".

I'm real sorry to hear and see that. At least its a bolt on item and you didn't wreck the hull which would not have been as easy. Yeah still expensive.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bug a couple of months back, he came by and relieved me of a near new exhaust setup. At the time he had a water problem and thought new iron would cure it, much to his did may it did not engine had internal damage from the water. I have been waiting for his finally back together post, it is a shame that damn log spoiled it.

Bug,

find yourself an alpha SS to replace that thing.. you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED...

or you can find comfort in knowing that 84 - 1990 alpha's are easy to come by at reasonable prices :)

No sites that I know of, just keep your eyes peeled in the for sale section and on E-Bay. If you put the word that your looking for one it will show up.

Bug,

There we're two listed here this past summer, maybe one is still available? Here's the link to it.
