Friends,

As my 302 is back on the engine stand . . . and out of the boat till spring . . .it's time to make some more improvements . .

I thought I'd convert from V-belt drive to sepantine drive, install a custom power steering pump, and simplify service, increase reliability and save some power.

The existing Holman Moody stack up with long bolts and spacers has zero service accessibility in my Corsican, and my addition of a BMW power steering pump only complicated everything.

I desire to move to a smaller alternator . . how many amps do I really need to drive ignition, starting, power trim and running lights? I use an Optima battery right now.

My original Jabsco pump . . .it's outta here . .there must be something better! Suggestions please!

Thank you!

Mario when I was thinking of upgrading the 302 in the 16 I found some stuff listed below. The newer style crank pumps are way better than what you are running, no coupler crap just a stabilizer bracket. I listed one in parts for sale off Ebay, if you are thinking belt drive let me know I have one of the older Merc all bronze pumps in real goos shape.

if you are going to yank the crank drive and go to a snake belt, double check the engine recirculating pump rotation or go with a bi-directional pump. ford reversed the rotation of their automotive pump when they went to the serpentine belt system.
