I just picked up a great little aluminum boat and am on the lookout for a nice outboard and trailer.
The boat I picked up is a 5 year old 14' Smoker Craft. It's like new, the paint's not even worn off the inside floor.
Anyway, it's rated for up to 15 hp, so I'm in the market for a nice 9.9 to 15 hp outboard. I'll take a nice John-rude, but since I have a Merc dealer right here, a Merc is my preference.
Also am looking for a late-model trailer. It's a lightweight boat, so a lightweight trailer will work.
My plan is to have the boat rigged so that my 14 yo will have something to fish and play around with next summer. Some of my fondest memories of being that age are tooling around all summer long with my pals in a 14 footer with a 9.9 Johnson. What fun. I hope my kid will pry himself away from a TV/computer screen long enough to enjoy some fun on the water. :boat:
Keep your eyes open for me. I'm not looking to pay new prices, but I don't want junk, either.
