Friday, I drove my PSD from Ft Pierce to Deland (140 miles), with between 3500 and 4000 pounds in the bed. It was late, and I was tired so to be careful, I only ran 65 mph on the way home. The thing that I was amazed by was the fact that I got 19.2 mpg on the trip. When I pull my Minx, which I figure is around 3000 pounds, at the same speed I only get 14.7 mpg. I guess the wind resistance makes such a big difference. I also get the same pulling my 18 foot fishboat, and I know it's less than 2500#.

My neighbor ran drag cars, for years he towed with it on an open trailer, the car was filthy when he got where he was going and he got 6-7 miles to the gallon. He fell onto a deal on a pointy box car trailer the car stayed pristine and his mileage went up 10-11. I wonder if one of the fine minds up here can come up with some aerodynamic ideas for boat trailers that make sense and would not be to costly.
