I have posted two photos with this.
The first is the idea I have for the graphics on this boat.
The purple mass at the front and rear is supposed to be flames.

The second is a blank canvas for you folks to try out some ideas. If I use your idea I will send you something worthwhile (you'll have a choice).

Scott, I think that boat will really look good if your designs' play along the strake line, water line, to accentuate its' length and narrow sheer. "Blobs of art" will shorten it I think.

(actually, who cares what I think... :D)

I tend to prefer a somewhat more "classic" bow treatment :smileybo:

Are you doing the graphics in paint or vinyl?

It really depends on what type of graphics I end up doing.
Vinyl is good because the ext owner can remove the graphics if they do not like it.

Paint can put more detail.

what about finding a real "scarab" on the net and trying to adapt the art to the hull sides?

The motif at the bottom of the page, right lends itself to design. (the egyptian one)

Well here's one I came up with. Went with the flames and Voodoo name. Hmmnnn, what else should we try?

Jeff has the right idea start broad at the aft and narrower towards the bow, makes the boat look longer. Anything broad near the bow, makes the boat stubbier...Ed

P.S. I REALLY like Jeff's drawing,looks very classy

Ed, those were my thoughts exactly. Scot, I have the bare hull rendered on my computer and I'd be happy to work up some more ideas. Gimme a call if ya want to let me know what you're thinking. I'm available at 616-396-6621 most of the time.

TamB, color in the middle of the 3 deck rise panels and let's see what she looks like then, it needs something to highlight the deck/cockpit riser..

How about something like this. Not too busy, yet eye catching.

I really like Jeff's treatment.

I played a little with the colors on the deck risers and it does look pretty neat, but I will let Jeff post up concepts if likes the idea.

Good call Buizilla and Roy on trying something with the fairing and deck riser. Here's what I worked up.

Damn Jeff that is gorgeous. Accentuates the lines of the Scarab without being overstated. A real head turner.

What paint program are you using? I can never get lines that fair :(

Roy, thanks for the compliments. To make the graphics I took the photo that harbormaster posted, imported it into Macromedia Freehand, made an outline drawing of it, drew the graphics and applied shading and the flame fades by using shape blends. Next, I exported the boat as an EPS and imported it into Photoshop, dropped it into the sky/water background, masked the hull at the waterline, put in a shadow of the boat and applied some filters to make the reflection. Freehand/Illustrator/Corel Draw all use mathematical vectors to define shapes rather than pixels thereby giving the smooth lines.
