What is this Distributor ?
I have a 350SBC crate engine replacement for the
1973 Volvo270/Chris Craft type set-up
where they turned the engine around and
draw power off of what would have been the front.
Rust in the Distributor weights

I have two boat yards that can't tell me
what to replace the Distributor with ?
What should I get
Name and number?
Thanks

Here are three photos to help nail it ?

looks like a mallory crab cap to me... for those instances wehre you have low hood clearance... i take it from your post taht you want to replace the whole distributor? why not clean up the advance mechanism and apply some lubrication to the pins and such so it actuates properly and call her good?

if you must replace it... a new mallory unilite marine is probably the most forward wham bam thank you mam installation.

thanks Matty & Rootsy for your help in this!
Matty I searched the site and saw your post but thought that crab was for Fords only?

Rootsy will see if fixable,
but if not where do I get exact match?
Look for numbers on distributor?

That looks like a Mallory YL series distributor. Mallory made both a flat and tower cap for those base configurations.

I have a mallory dist out of a '73 Chris Craft marined
Z-28 SBC (300HP) that was removed with less than 2 hours
on the dist. (we had two such engines in a Magnum and one came with this dist and the other with a Delco -- we wanted them the same so changed to Delco on both). If it helps you I will send it to you for $20 (complete dist) which should cover my shipping expenses etc. Ed
