You’ve heard the story before…our first child is on the way and my toys have to go. I am really sad to let my boat go, I have waited forever to get it and now within a 2-month period, my wife is pregnant and I lost my job!

She is a 1995 hull in excellent condition. I purchased and had installed a brand new 2004 Mercruiser 350 Magnum MPI (300 HP). This was a turnkey engine with ALL new accessories from Mercruiser. At the same time I had the entire Alpha Gen II outdrive rebuilt and geared with 1.47 ratio gears. The new engine has 25 hours on it. There was no room for the plastic cover that attaches to the flame arrestor. I did not want to alter the engine hatch, so I leave it off.

This boat has two seating configurations 1+3 or 2+2. I did not like having my wife sit sideways or in back every time we went out, so I had a custom bench seat built to match the boat. I didn’t want to modify the hull any more than necessary, so the seat attaches to the existing pedestal on the starboard side and rests on the fiberglass seat on the port side. Only two small latches were installed to keep the seat stable.

Other features include: trim tabs, hydraulic steering, gel battery, new low profile bilge pump and JVC stereo with CD player. I have a full cover and a cockpit cover as well as a bimini top. The trailer is a Continental galvanized trailer with a removable tongue, good, not great condition.

I am still learning the boat, so I have not really spent too much time @ WOT. I have had a GPS reading of 64mph, but I am sure she is capable of more. My next step was to invest in a serious prop. The prop on it is a Stainless Steel 23 pitch prop.

This is basically a brand-new 16 Classic! Except you can’t order a 350 magnum for this boat from Donzi! I am asking $ 16,500.00 The boat is located in Pompano beach, FL.

Thank You

Very nice package, like your innovative seat. Some should jump on it.

Nice boat. I am unfortunately am not intersted, but do you think the place that made the seat would be willing to make another one? If so, can you pass along the contact info? Thanks!

I have not tried very hard to sell this beautiful boat, but now I must sell it. :frown: We have to vacate our house to do construction and I have no place to keep her.

I will accept $10,500.00 firm. Those of you who know, know this is a GREAT deal. She has been sitting on a trailer, waiting for someone to love her.

Serious buyers, please call.

I would think it should be faster than 64 mph with the 350 MAG? I would think more close to 70?

I know, like I said, I have not propped it out yet. It is running with the old prop from the 4.3 engine. I just plain ran out of money.

bjh517,

that is a great boat and at a great price, regardless of how fast it is with a very desirable engine package, If I did not have my 16 this would be a done deal plus for anyone looking at a 16 this custom seat design with the small bench is an ideal layout for slow cruising or a back saver on those rough days, plus remove the bench seat and you're all setup for the 16 intended purpose sking /tubing, this price is down near what the older boats are going for!!!

hope you find a buyer

Question to all....will the old outdrive be able to handle such a H.P. increase?
Can the boat handle the additional weight?
Does it sit low in the stern at rest?
Thanks

I rebuilt and regeared the outdrive when I swapped engines. The weight distribution is fine, you can order the boat new with a 5.7 V8, basically the same weight. Trim tabs are a must, but she handles great.

Nope, the engine choices on a new 16 are the 4.3 and the 5.0. Been that way since 1998 (or so).

Of course! I misspoke. I meant to say a V8 is offered for the 16, so the weight is not too far off. Thanks for the correction!

Makes me wonder what the weight difference is between the 5.0 and the 5.7.

Any?

Anyone know?

Mercruiser states the following:

350 Magnum MPI/Alpha: 952 lbs
5.0 MPI/Alpha: 952 lbs
5.7 Carb/Alpha:946 lbs
5.0 Carb /Alpha: 946 lbs

Not much difference.......

Wow...

Where were you when I was shopping a few years ago. At that time it seemed prices were on the rise and I was glad to grab a project 18 for 7k. Probably put 3x that into it...

Someone has a fine deal and I hope they realize what a nice boat they picked up.

Best wishes with the new addition... Another Donzi will find you when the time is right.

Cheers. chili

Had an uneventful, safe trip home! Received a number of compliments on the boat from several Donzi owners and former owners on the trip back. Got back last night around 5 p.m. Enjoyed meeting you and your family and enjoyed doing business with you, bjh517.
The old trailer proved to be a tuff old girl! Nary a complaint or squeek out of it in over 1,000 miles. Did stop in St. Augustine and had a new tire put on the left side. The old one was wearing thin and without a spare I didn't want to be stranded in rural (won't name the state..but I have seen Deliverance a few times!). Winterized the boat today - it is almost 70 in Northern VA today!
Will clean the road grime off it tomorrow and tuck it away in the barn until the weather is good enough to take her to her new home on Chautauqua Lake in NY.
P.S. The little woman didn't throw me out when she saw the new boat!

Makes me wonder what the weight difference is between the 5.0 and the 5.7. there is no weight diff the 5.0 has smaller diameter bores same stroke and is a pos campared to a 350 5.7 the 350 may be a pound or two lighter with the bigger bores:uzi: the hot set up is a 383 or 406 sbc they all weigh within a pound or 2 of each other. the 3.375 stroke of the 406 or 383 stroker make an azz load or tq and hp.
