Has there been any changes made to the transom bracket that supports the lift eye on a Classic 18?
I need to find a new one.
The boat is a 1970 Classic 18.

I've seen a couple different ones. Mine ('66 barrel back) is a piece of steel channel with a plate welded to the end of it. Two bolts thru the transom. Another I have seen is a Y shaped piece that appears to attach to the top two bolts of a Volvo transom shield.

You can see mine in this thread. (http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?t=33989)

I can get you dimensions and a better photo if that would help.

There was a photo of the other type here a while back but I can't find it now.

Frank,
Thanks.
Dimensions and other photos would be great. I'm thinking that the bracket for the barrel back might have a different dimension than mine.

Here ya go- It's made from 3" x 3/16" steel channel with a 1-1/2" leg. It's about 6" long and the top piece is 2-1/2" x 3".

If you need to make one like this let me know and I will get you more detail (angles and hole size/locations) so you can reproduce it.

I don't know if this helps, but here's the one in my Minx.

Eugene, I think you could fab them out of most anything with a wall thickness of 3/16" to 1/4" and it hits all the existing holes. While I was at it on my Minx, I had it black powder coated. Looks sharp.
