0W anything is too light for the wider clearences and high loads found in most marine engines.

Griz is the one to answer this one, I remember something about the viscosity thing that changed a lot of my thinking. Will attempt to find the post that related to it.

Yes I did oil test for 6 solid months with engines running 24/7 and used 50 different brands and w types. Forrest is correct. If you are going to use a synthetic go with the 20-50 Amsoil. I use it in my flat tappit engines and my race bikes and cars. However I use normal oil in the Criterion, because of the blower and rollar rocker and cam and the 14 quart oil pan. There are some people that say the rollars skid with synthetic oil (mobil1) with my setup. the other reason is it is hard to get mine up to operating oil temp with the 14 quarts and a cooler. My choice is NEVER use 0w in a bost or high stress engine. we do use the 0w oil in some Honda's to get the fuel economy up for EPA ratings but cars arn't stressed like a boat
