View Full Version : What's the Black Beast?

I was putting in Saturday morning at Stony Point Marina on the Hudson and notice a monster of a catamaran on a trailer. I have a real thing for catamarans since my second boat was a 14 ft Custom Craft 4 point cat with an 80 merc, I still love the way a cat with a step walks corners.

Anyway I strolled over to look at this black beast and then thought it would be fun to see if anyone on the board recognizes it.

Yup Blue Thunder it is, although the owner who I talked to very briefly claimed this was owned by the runners rather than the DEA and thus the black color. I doubt it given that the black was clearly paint and not gel coat. He plans to put a pair of blown 900 HPs in it wonder how it will move then?

Matty,

That was the first time I put in at Stoney Point, but the second time on the Hudson this year. The ride down 684 is a bit taxing but not bad for a good weekend. I really liked putting in at Norrie Point SP, nice campgrounds and $16 over night docking. The Hudson is a great run, went from Stoney Point up to Kingston for Margaritas on Saturday and coming back was a nice constant chop, just enough to keep interested. Although the flotsam and jetsam from the recent rain makes you keep your eyes open.

Thanks for the invite, we do a fair amount of trailering all over New England so keep me posted.

I know that boat.... was recently inherited buy a guy from his father.

I'm at the Marina just 100' beyond where that boat is located. If you're going to be launching there or just boating on the Hudson let me know and I'll try to meet up with you.

After the Florida storms came up our way there is so much wood and debris floating on the Hudson that I started having Lake Cumberland flashbacks.

First topic: How to make sure your trailer stays connected to your tow vehicle :D :D :D

I was thinking of something more along the lines of "Is your boat too fast for your trailer?"

Yup some of the 8 inch 12 ft long logs were pretty scary Saturday especially coming back south in 1 ft chop. :eek!:
