Can you convert a NON Thru-transom exhaust boat into a Thru -Transon? Cost Estimate appreciated if anyone has completed such. This would be with a Merc 4.3 engine.

i say 500 bucks including the price of the hole saws ;)
that is if you plan to block off the thru prop exhaust...
existing exhaust but need new exhaust hose and a set of new tips anywhere from 100 - 250 bucks.. a few tools and a blockoff plate...
to get the wishbone out you'll have to remove the engine... or you can just cap it i reckon...
if you go diverters.. to run both well... it gets a bit more pricy...
i hate having extra crap in the way personally...
JR - pretty damn noisy...

Jeff - Welcome aboard. the best way to do this is to buy an 18 or 22 with thru hulls already.

I am having one done for my father's Sweet 16. About 1,500-1,800. That includes diverters and install. Dixie Performance Marine (in Louisville) has done through hull conversions before. I have been told that it sounds pretty good.
Actually the 4.3 is a good motor for the 16. It is a good weight and retains a nimble feeling. With a 4 bbl and some mild tuning it is good for about 60.

Yes, its done all the time. Dixie Marine did my Sweet 16' Classic last season installing a Corsa Switchable system like Donzi uses at the Factory. Mine is a V-8 5.7L and it sounds too Good. Total on the job was about $ 1,500.00 parts and labor, cutting the holes was not for me :lookaroun but it depends which way you go as to the cost. You have a straight thru hull system, using a cover plate, or a switchable that is quiet on demand or Blasting Loud with the flick of the switch. Either is better than thru prop if you like it loud and throaty.
