A friend offered me her 1969 Olds 442, 2 door convertable. This car really is owned by a little old lady, who is the original owner. The car has been garaged, the interior is spotless, and everything eccept the air works. Gold in color, the body is spotless. Anyone guess what its worth. Bruzilla?

that's actually a cool car, VERY rare.... a lot of people prefer the lines of the 70-72 cars, but it's a matter of taste I guess..

PM me what she wants for it, and I can better size the value.

My mother had that car when I was a teenager except it was white with red stripes. I sure wish it was still in the family. Awesome car

The owner dosen't know what she wants for it, my wife really likes the car, and I'd like to buy it for her, but don't have a clue as to the worth or what to offer. Any guesses?

I can't vouch for the accuracy, but try the price guide linked here - http://users.adelphia.net/~witrob/price/price.html

Im sorta a ford man, but options probably make a big difference on that car (in addition to condition). I don't think they came standard with an instrument package. w30 option is a big deal. ac is a big one. bench seats were probably standard. Transmission would make a big difference in rarity. 4speeds were pretty scarce in Buick and Olds intermediates.

if its a true 442 it should be a for speed 442 stands for 4 bbl carb 4 speed and dual exhaust if memory serves correctly.

That was probably the plan. But by the 66-67s, that wasn't happening. some were even offered in 2 bbl.

a 442 is a lil of the beaten path and cool but one car does it all for me!!! as far as muscle cars go!!!in this color scheme too!!!

Mikev,

--------That was Oldsmobiles original marketing plan but went south after only a year when sales didnt meet expectations. The next year (65) they claimed it stood for 4-barrell, 400ci, dual exhaust. Nice 64s a rare car as so few were sold. Just looked at a beautiful one in Canada and am presently trying to buy it for a friend. It even has factory AC. would love to have it but have too many cars and not enough DONZIs now...............Bill S

Funny you should mention more Donzi's, the plan would be to buy and flip it for another boat. No one has ventured a guess as to its worth yet. Give me a low guestimate is it worth a grand or five?

Surfer,

The year old CPI value guide I have here in my office gives a range of 7,700 to 24,100 for a 69 442 ragtop. Add about 10% for current value. I've seen nice examples retail for high twenties/low thirties though. Check this link for reference. http://www.duffys.com/results.asp?stocknum=4083011

Reddog, I did check out the link you suggested. The site called the car "Hurst/Olds", the only thing I remember about that was the Hurst "Tbar" manual trany. The car I'm looking at is automatic...Is it still a Hurst Olds?

just about anything "muscle" is getting 5-10k running and complete. Hurst Olds were either silver/black (68-under bumper ram air) or white/gold (69 w/glass ram air hood) w/ the toronado engine. mostly auto. Never seen a photo of a cvt H/O.:propeller :shades:
