I have an 18 classic 2003 with a 350 mpi. It sounds great but i would like it to be louder. The exhaust baffle in the thru hull is huge. I have heard of boaters drilling 5 uniform holes into the baffles to give it more rumble, and I was wondering if that would be a good idea, or if the backpressure would be too little. Also i run a 25p mirage prop and am only getting 4300 rpm at WOT i was wondering if anyone had a 23p and they could tell me how it would run with a mirage 23p. Thanks guys!

The 23 mirage plius is what should have come with it from the factory, it will get the rpm's up where they need to be. Look carefully at the baffles.......you might be able to just remove them with a screw removal.

The above statement is only true if you have a 1.5:1 ratio drive (which it should be). Be sure to check. If it's a 1.65:1 the 25P is correct and you should look elsewhere for the loss of RPM.

As for the baffles, you may want to change out your exhaust tips all together. Usually it's 3 long bolts on each tip and they're off. Switch to a pencil tip, slash cut or something with just internal flappers and you'll get more rumble. Good luck.

If you deside to replace your muffler tip for the non-muffler ones let me know.

I am intrested in the ones with muffler.

I have a set of 3" slash cut tips. They have a 1 yr. old set of flappers from Stainless and we put in some home-made baffles that cut the sharp bark but still was loud. I switched to a 4" sllent choice and don't need them. If you are interested let me know. I will try to post some pics later today. I also have a set of 4" Corsa mufflers like the ones that come stock from Donzi. Don't need them either.

Thanks For The Offers Guys But I Would Not Like To Remove My Stock Tips. I Think They Look Great And Would Like To Keep Them. As For The Outdrive It Has A 1:65-1 Ratio. However I Readjusted The Throttle Cable And I Am Now Getting The Right Rpm.since I Bought The Boat With 2 Hrs On It And It Was A 2003 It Sat Alot, And The Throttle Cable Was Semi Seized. Also My Exhaust is Silent Choice so i was wondering if altering the baffles would mess that up in any way.

With silent choice take Randys advice, you can go quiet when ever you like. I switched from 3" to 4" with headers no mufflers and it does put an instant grin on my puss when I start it.

Kendall area. I also have a 25 Contender with twin four stroke Yamahas that i use down in the Keys, so this is my Miami cruiser. My uncle has a 2004 22 classic 40th anniversary with a 496 mag ho that he brings down to run with me. I was wondering if there was a Donzi club down here and where they meet. I think MOP is right. When i start up my v8 every morning my grin is from ear to ear. Im going to take the tips off and look inside em and see how hard it would be to remove the baffles.

Save your tips as is! replacements fit right in and most use the same bolt holes, I got a great set off Eboat with baffles and rubber flaps(not used) for $125. You may want to sell your stock ones after you switch to someone needing a bit of quieting down, that would more than pay for straight throughs.
