Has any one bought a stock/semi custom boat cover that fit well?
I am looking for a cover that I can trailer with before I have a custom one made.

My 18 doesn't have a windshield.

Thanks.

 I always have wondered what purpose a cover has on a boat while it is traveling down the highway. Maybe you can enlighten me. :spongebob

To keep the rain, road dust, bugs, and other highway debris out, and to keep your stuff in..... :D

I just towed my 18 about 3600 miles with a custom made full cover on. My cover goes to the chine. Fits TIGHT and RIGHT. I put a medium car cover on first for protection, then the full boat cover, and tie it to the trailer. I ran 75-80 mph all the way, for 3600 miles, with ZERO problems.

Buillizilla,

Great. Where did you get the boat cover?

I use a custom Sunbrella cover (w/optional tie down system) for the 22.

3 years old and looks like new.
Tie down system is great but I do NOT tow with it on. When it rains while towing I use the tonneau.

The only fault I have with it is the stitching.

Jim,
Thats exactly what I do with the Magnum and will do that with the Classic, but I am looking for something that will fit decently for a 150 mile tow to where the boat is being final rigged and a cover that I can keep on it while in storage.

TB, I had a local custom canvas guy do all 3 of my boats this way with waterproof fabric, the water just beads off. About $650-$800 depending on the length. It fits tight as tight can be. He has the patterns off my 18 to make more, I do not have a windshield on the 18. He also has my 18 cockpit cover patterns, and that thing is PERFECT as well.

Rick,
Why don't you use it while towing?
Are you afraid of the abrasion of the fabric?
On the cover for my Magnum all abraision points were felt padded and reinforced.

I tow in areas where there is a lot of sand and in the past I have gotten abrasion from sand getting under tonneau cover.

ALSO towing is VERY hard on the cover.

While towing I turn front seats around and put rear bench and bucket seat bottoms under dash.

My Classic has been towed 20000< miles and she has 1 stone chip about 1/16" in diameter (and I think that came from a BB gun)

I was under the impression that the best way to keep the boat clean was to use a cockpit cover and hose the boat off when you arrive without getting the inside of the boat dirty. I hate the thought of having to clean the cover off and the flapping and rubbing from the wind. the biskit
