My buddy just got a 1989 Crossbow 33, and it currently has SS 21 pitch props, he is not computer friendly so I told him i would help out. What would be the best set of props for total top end speed?????? Like the site and hope to add to the Donzi Girls section...

I have a 1989 Z-33 w 454's & bravo drives.

The boat was originally designed to go 60 MPH with Mirage 23" pitch props. That might be a good starting point. I don't think that the boat will go much faster, unless your buddy changes the powerplants.

He's got 460's with OMC King Cobra's and wants his boat to go as fast as possible.

.......that combo might be a bit slower than the Mercs. it must be a 1990 or so.

My 89 Z-33 with OMC 460's ran best with 21" props. I tried 23'' and found top end was no better and lost throttle response. Like others have said, these boats were 60 mph boats with base power. With OMC gearing, 21'' props kept the WOT rpm about 4800. Using 23's would only allow the motors to run 4400, which is too low. I spent the $$ on 23" props and they sat in the boxes. I used OMC Viper props, other manufactures may give you different results. Keep in mind that OMC and Mercury had drive ratios that were not the same.. Moving top speed takes $$ and HP. Hope this helps... Kurt

KK89Z33 makes a good point. The OMC's might be geared different, so my comnets about 23 Mirage would be moot. The 21's are probably best.

It's a 60MPH boat...........be happy, that's fast with that much weight in an old girl like her.

She's slowere than the new ones; but, just a puuuurdeee.
