I don't live in one, (I live on an acreage and in the hills) but on the news this morning was an intervue of a happy "new" homeowner who just bought a 500 sq.ft., YES 500  condo in Vancouver B.C. for $267,000. That is $200,000 US $. Is it that bad where ya'll are? Her bed is on a pole in the room :D

My father just sold his condo on the ocean in Port St. Lucie, Fl for $330,000 US. I think it was 1,300 square feet. Ocean on one side and the intercoastal on the other side.

My gf just sold her 1700 sq.ft. 3bdr condo in a nice but nothing special neighborhood one hour outside NYC for $525k. $200k for 500sq seems pretty high to me unless it's got spectacular views, etc.

My in-laws live in Daytona Beach. Since my father-in-law won't be with us much longer, my mother-in-law has been looking at condos. My wife found one (high rise) facing either the beach or a golf course. 1500 to 1800 sq/ft. for $240,000.00 to $290,000.00. These are new, actually not completed.

I live in a 950 sq foot condo on the ocean here in Jersey. One of the units in my small building (31 units) that was ocean view, not ocean front, recently sold for 399k. :eek!: I didn't pay close to that for mine 6 years ago. I should have bought 2.

It's amazing how fast condos v. houses have appreciated in the last 5 years. I was patting myself on the back for selling my 3000 sq/ft condo in Minnesota back in 1998 for $600k, now I'm kicking myself for not having held onto it.

Not to scare you but I have here today's newspaper insert from local large real estate co.

I'll take 3 samples ..
the lowest .. Very small 1 bed condo $400,000
Medium ..2 bed 2 br $875,000
posh .. 2 bed 2 bath $1,850,000

Our bedrooms are'nt the size of yours either (think, small island.. smaller houses ) ..

Of course US $

Now you know why I'll never own real estate here !

down here there are some built in the 70's that you can find in the mid 200- 500's. Most the new contstruction is pre-sold and in the 500k-800 range with many higher than that.
