I have a twin ram Marine Machine external steering system that I am getting ready to sell. I want to have it pressure tested before I put it up for sale. I know the guy at the hydraulic shop is going to ask what pressure it needs to be tested to. What do I tell him? What pressure does a stock steering pump put out?

Lenny, I'm not sure how much I am going to ask for it. It is a complete transom on back setup. It has a Bravo Wingplate, transom mount brackets, all clevises, and thru hull fittings.

First of all I want to get the rams pressure tested so I don't sell somebody leaky rams. Anybody else know what pressure they should be tested to?

You know Greg, I just went through my Mercruiser shop manual steering section twice, and it does not give any pressures. Nor does there seem to be any test ports to measure it. :lookaroun

Greg,
I would think any GM dealer could give you the pressure of the pump as it is a standard GM part.

This was my point, they all seem to run the same GM pump.
