Hi! I thought I would share some of my prop experience with those of you still searching for the perfect setup. I have a 1999 Classic 16, 4.3 190HP with a 1.62 ratio. I have recently tried a laser II and Vengeance 14x19 replacing a 19P aluminum which was spinning a bit too high in the 4800-5000 RPM range...

The vengeance got me out of the hole faster, but did not lower my RPM's, (as intended) I picked up about 1MPH, hit rev limiter at WOT trimmed out.

The laser was a complete waste of time and $$$, hole shot was worse than the aluminum and didn't see any additonal MPH, hit the rev limter more easily.

This weekend I'm trying out a Mirage 21P, I'll let you know how it goes.

cheers,
jeff

Jeff,
Thanks for the post. For what it's worth, I have a 90 Sweet 16 with a 4.3 HO rated at 205 HP. I am running a stainless 14X19 (unknown brand - came with the boat). Spinning around 4800-5000 WOT at around 51 MPH. Tried a 14.25 X 21 Stilleto - spun just under 4400 with a loss of about 1 MPH. Also, the boat did not feel as nimble as the other prop. Let me know what else you try...

I run the laser 2 and have found it to be pretty good . you probably ... no .... were definately hitting the rev limiter "easier " because you didn't have enough pitch . more pitch .. more speed ...I am sure you will be happy with the mirage plus ... good luck ...

I have a 19' reggaza with the 4.3 in it and was running a 19" quicksilver ss and hitting 5200 rpms, after putting a 4bbl carb on it. I sent it to houston prop to have them do an accelerator package and repitch it to 21" to drop the rpms down. i got it back and wow is all i can say better holeshot even with more pitch and 3 more mph on top and better midrange acceleration and I can trim it out more. best 300 I have spent in a long time.

I have scoured the internet and found nothing... Can anyone tell me the difference between a Mirage and a Mirage Plus?

thanks, jeff

I know that the rake of the blades is more drastic on the Plus but I'm not sure about the dia.

Had the same boat from 1994-2000 ran a 23 pitch mirage. The boat ran great, good top end and I could deep water start a bare foot skier!

Jeff,
enjoy your boat and don't worry too much about it ...Don't you guys only have 3 boating days a year up there ? :wavey:

Well; prop testing has ended for this season, as the ice flows are coming in... no, not really. I've ended up with a 21P Vengeance and got about 4 MPH faster. Now running at about 54MPH at WOT trimmed way out with a stock 4.3 2bbl and a 1:62 ratio. if anybody has the same setup, let me know what your seein.

cheers,
jeff

I have a 94’ 16 with a 4.3L and 1.84 ratio. I am currently running a 23 inch pitch WOT at 5000+. I don’t know my current top speed but I have been considering trying a 25P to bring the RPM down a bit.

Anyone have a similar setup?

It's just a old stock Quicksilver jeff. Maybe I will give something with the same pitch and an agressive cup a try.
