We made our first foray into the salt water here. We put in at Halifax Marina in Daytona and ran down to Ponce Inlet and out in the ocean. Coming back, we saw this 22 Donzi beached at the island, so we beached and walked over to talk to him. He has an 86 22 Classic. He informed me it would run 75 mph and that Cigs are afraid to race him in the ocean. Must have the same engine builder as Badass Baron has. BTW, SBC with alpha drive. :bonk:

My brother-in-law calls the island, Disappearing Island, it might be the official name. There's several good restaurants in the area where you can dock, two of them on the Daytona side and one at the 1st bridge in New Smyrna.
The 22 owner sounds a bit optomistic.

Yes, it is Disapearing Island. It's actually a pretty big island. I thought with that name it might be a little sandbar that goes under when the tide is high. :biggrin.:

Jr has a 300 HP stroker 350ci that goes about 60MPH, with GPS measuring...........

did you have your boots on when he told you 75 mph?

I think his extrodinary speed is due to the race fuel he has in his left hand.

He must not have seen you pull up in a Donzi Cuda. He gave you the same line he gives all the boat owners that come up to look and admire his Classic.

Ask him to come to Sarasota if you see him again.

Who knows, you didn't say if the Small Block is worked or not. Maybe the Alpha is an SS model? After all, Geo has one bad small block in his 18 doing 120!

As we used to say on the street, the BS stops when the light turns green

You never know, he might be telling the truth. But, I've spanked many "80+ mph boats" over the last few years! :)

Like the tude 'badd ass donzi ' (sounds familiar). And also agree, the bs stops when the flag drops. Just
like when those drop
Be surprised wtih certain small blocks.

He lifted his hatch and showed me the engine. It wasn't anything radical looking. Cast iron exhaust and a holley. No SS drive. I pointed out that I thought his boat was resting on his drive in the sand. He wasn't concerned, but then proceeded to tell me of the importance of a drive resevoir. Oh, and he didn't have his $600 hydromotive prop on yesterday, or his labbed prop, or they may have been one and the same.

I certainly wish I could tell him that I had an 18 that could tow his boat that fast, :banghead: :banghead:
