I'm want to pull a 22 classic with my dakota. Has anyone put their classic on a scale to get the full weight, (trailer, engine drive etc...)

I don't know the weight - but for-what-its-worth, I pulled my Z21 with my 2000 Dakota (4x4 Sport Extended Cab, 3.71 gears, 4.7L V8). It had the power to pull it just fine, but stopping was an issue before I got a new trailer that had 4x disk brakes. I warped 2 sets of front rotors (if you haven't already, upgrade to Powerslots, it's worth it!). I think Chris pulls his 22 with a Dakota too....so I know it's possible.

My 22 Classic 454 magnum w/ BRAVO 1 drive is 3,400 lbs. My tandem trailer is 1,040 lbs. Total = 4,440 lbs. Been toeing with an F150. All is well so far.

I had a 1998 Dakota Sport, club cab with a 5.2 liter V8 and 355 gears. I think it had a tow rating of 5,800. It towed my 18 with now problems. But I sold it before I purchased my 22. I just purchased a Toyota 4 Runner Sport with the 4.7 twin cam V8, 5 speed automatic, not sure of the gears. The Toyota has a 7,000-tow rating and it hauls my 22 great, it gets 21 miles to the gallon traveling back and forth to my lake house in NY State. This is a great mid size SUV and a great tow vehicle.

In terms of the 22's weight, the boat is 3,450 dry; add the 55 gallon fuel cap at 8 lbs a gallon (450 lbs), 1 to 2 batteries, oil, 9 quarts for the 496 and coolant. My steel Eagle trailer weighs 1080 lbs. Add gear and you can exceed 5,000 Lbs. If your Dakota is a V8 you should be fine, I would be concerned about the V6 though, unless you not towing to far.
