Has anyone ever seen or done a Bravo 1 or Alphaa SS setup in an X-18? Were these avaiable in those years or were the X-18s all Volvos. I thought the X-18 recently on the board for sale in Nevada had a Mercruiser set up. was this aftermarket?
I am looking for one if possible to get or possible to install (easily).

I looked at one with a 454 TRS set up.

An X-18 hull is just like every OTHER 18 Classic when it comes to the bottom profile. The Alpha SS really seems to work well on it. Ask Doug Lovin. :) TRS were available on these, (AKA Poodles' X) and Volvo 280's. If it were me I would load up on horsepower, attach a Bravo I and an IMCO 2" shortie. Alphas' and Bravos' were not available from the factory back then...(1972-1976)

I agree that the alpha was not available from 1972-1976 but the Merc 888 drive with a SBF was. Most were Volvos, but I owned an original 73 X-18 with the 888.

Rodger, That wouldn't be the "Lone Star" X-18 that was in L.G. quite some time ago?

Greg,
No it wasn't Lone Star. Actually, Lone Star was a '71' 18 2+3 with a Volvo drive and 351 Ford that belonged to Chuck Sawall. He now owns a 28 ZX. The X-18 I had was yellow sided with white deck and bottom and a yellow stripe.
