Hey i am maybe looking into purchasing a 16. i was wondering what kind of speed these run witht the 4.3 and 5.0. i want one to use with a houseboat. something light to pull and quick enough to have some fun back in the creeks of lake cumberland. :boat:

I have a 95 classic sweet 16 with a 305 5.0 L w 19 inch pitch prop My speedo goes to 55 and I send it past that around to the stop. Would guess about 59 or 60 if the speedo is accurate. Very fun. I love it. Tows nicely also. My friend has a C&C 28 foot sailboat we tow it behind occasionally.

I bought a new 2000 C16 with the 4.3, 2bbl, 190 hp, ran 55 mph. A buddy bought same boat and motor and ran same speed. 2003 and 2004 C16's with the 4.3 have 210 hp. Maybe a couple MPH faster. If you don't get the 5.0, you will always wish you had. Much better resale, too. I kept my 16 about 6 months and moved up to an 18 with the MX6.2MPI. That has held me just fine for four years. No plans to change soon.
Jkeefe and Speedracer have had a 16 with the 4.3 for several years and now an 18...

From my experience with the 16' ....

The 4.3 makes the boat feel really light when at WOT and just all around driving, which is why it's so fun to drive.

With the added weight of a v-8, it stays it the water more, rides better and of course is faster. The resale value is also a better.

If at all possible try to ride and drive both.

Mark correction x-18 ;)
