GEO,

I am there almost every Sunday. It is a crazy place. Lots of Big Boats, Harleys, Vettes, you name it. It is about 20 minutes East of Annapolis. Not too much dock space for us little guys. The big boats are stacked up about 5 boats deep along the outside dock.

:bonk: Years back it always has a Contest on Sundays to keep the Boater Patrons there....longer.....nowadays....they are all pros and look like it....not that its a Bad Thing....but it used to be for normal women having fun...it's now morphed into a bunch of Steroid Induced My V-8 is Faster than yours....Blah Blah....if you don't have a Tiger or a 100 MPH Boat....you might as well not even be there.....
I am not a big fan of the Drunk Steroid Induced Performance Boaters....so I stay away....plus I would end up Dead or Arrested.... :rlol: because I am a Big Dumb Male.....but at least I know it...so I stay away.....

:bonk: Ya Think Frank?....OK Brad...say the word we will head over.....its just the other side of the Street from Fishermans.....next to Angies!

If we take boats.....we can put in at Sandy Point.....just the other side of the Bay.....if we just do Cars...no worries.

Grip.....Will Do...I am only an hour an 15 minutes from Annapolis...and Kent Isle depending on Traffic....I will arrange a weekend in August or Sept.

Yes, I'm in. It can't be the first weekend in August or the Last weekend in Sept. How many Classics do you think we can get together on the Chesapeake?

Dr. Dan
07-14-2004, 08:39 PM
:bonk: Well Pasko is over in Pasadena area I think, don't know if Tebo still has his...since the Baby...Brad is always game for a good time...I would think 6 to 8 that I can think of...course coordinating everyones schedule can become a process...so sometimes its best to leave it loose...make the calls and see who shows....I will do some research and see who is in the 2 hour or so time frame...might venture down.

We may surprise ourselves...if its the right weekend....is there some good hotels locally to crash at...? :spit:

:smash: I am open the following weekends...but my preference would be in August. It would give us more time to Organize...and I really am hybernating the Pill Prior to Winnie in 2 Weeks....more Detail Time :smash:

Post your thoughts and who would like to hook up...we'll try to coordinate the best compromised schedule...Boy Do I live with a Poltician or what? :wavey:

Any weekend is good for me. There is a holiday in and a comfort inn. Do a search in Grasonville, Maryland. Grasonville is the city of Kent Narrows or go to www.kentisland.org. I agree, lets see how may donzi's we can get to come down to the Chesapeake Bay. I'm looking forward to it. By the way, DR. Dan, where do you live?

Dr. Dan
07-14-2004, 10:17 PM
:bonk: I live up in Shrewsbury, Pa...just over the Maryland Line on I-83, South of York about 20 minutes...we are about 45 minutes from the Inner Harbor...

I normally put in up at NorthEast,Md which I can get to in an Hour....we Boat most of the time up there....but obviously it is the Benefit of having a Trailer to Drop in anywhere....I have not taken the Donzi to the Narrows Yet...we did venture down to the Inner Harbor once just to do it....

Used to hang out on Kent Island in the 90's with a Buddy who had many Boats....Fishermans at night was a Blast.

I keep my boat in the Inner Harbor and go there a few times a year. There are lots of meatheads, but the crowd is pretty tame. The water is usually a little rough on the way there, but you can fly on the way back. I was there three weeks ago and there were 4 Donzi's, but no Classics. My boat is a '99 22zx w/ Loose Cannon written on the sides.

Dr. Dan

I am always in the Sassafras. Maybe I could meet you somewhere around Turkey Point. 4th of July weekend I saw a 1968 Sweet 16, a 22 Classic and several 22 ZX's, more than ever on the Sassafras.

:spongebob Guys & Gals....I am busy with work committments July 22 through the 28th.... I have Lake Winnie the next weekend July 31st. Then August 6th & 7th I am doing alsorts of Back Flips to Throw the Blue Pill down the Throats of the Boys in the Southern Bay....at the HRPA St Judes Childrens Research Hospital - Chesapeake Bay Poker Run! It's a very worthy cause and it will improve my skills of running with the Big Dogs in less than friendly waters....so I figure it's more of a Group Practice Session.... :bonk:

I need the seat time. :banghead:

I will look at the weekend of the 21st of August....and see if my Crew is available. I would like to arrive on Friday Evening...grab a Hotel for 3 Nights and Leave Sunday Nite or Monday a.m. just to give ya all my thoughts.....we need to see if there are any local Events that would conflict with that weekend....and screw up the Hotel availability?

Dr. Dan
08-12-2004, 05:00 PM
 Yes I am in....I think Brad and Dwight are not available...but that could change? :crossfing

I need to find a place to stay...and the public ramp....that "Grip It" was talking about. I am not super interested in rafting up near the Bone Heads at Red Eyes for obvious reasons....but I think there are plenty of places to cruise to....the Eastern Bay area is normally a quiet area heading down towards St. Michaels.

I am hopeful Greg or someone who knows these waters can function as escort to allow us to run ... and air out these wave beaten hulls from the last few weekends of Runs!

I would come down Friday Night....and likely leave Sunday evening...depending on.....I have a full boat....some of Liz's Cousins are closet Donzi Phanatics...and I think they want to crew. It'll be rough....they're both Sweethearts....

I don't think they'll be entering any contests though...but who knows?

If weather is good....we can cruise to Annapolis....Inner Harbor or Fells Point....and do quiet cruising South of the Island....any thoughts?

If we are going the aug 21st weekend I think it would be nice to know a time.I think sat or sunday 10am?...Doctor dan do you want to be the cruise director? and pick a time.I have to run from middle river so it would take me about 1 hour to get to red eyes.Sat would be best depending on the weather.

Dr. Dan
08-14-2004, 04:58 PM
:spongebob Well...So far the only actual Kent Island confirmed attendees will be Greg, Bill, and Grip It...Gary W is a maybe....I will be Towing down either Friday Nite...or very early Saturday....but most likely Friday.....we can run around Saturday....and stay closer to Red Eyes on Sunday.....for the contest if people like....

I will likely pull my boat before Sunday afternoon....I hear fun times are at the Chesapeake Crab Shack or whatever its called also ..... this is a very loose gathering...so don't sweat any specific time frame....my Cell is 717-512-3656...hope it works there....I will stay at the Holiday Inn or the Comfort Inn as long as they have room...I will call tomorrow.

Greg...you are more familiar with the waters there...so we will follow you...if the weather is questionable we can still meet up...and just party...even if its way nasty we can just drive there...and do the land thing if need be....

Who will be spending Saturday nite there? Other than us...?

I liked Gregs suggestions to cruise to Annapolis and Inner Harbor...and or St. Michaels.... if its marginal out we can just hang in the East Bay....

I think 10 - 11:00 am is a good range to get in the vicinity....maybe we can post our Cells and we can all call each other....I need help finding the Ramp and all of that fun stuff. I think my boat is full so I can't take anyone ...but that could change.

I am kinda lookin at this as an exploritory mission...so "No Worries" we have no specific agenda...it will depend on the weather....the water in the Bay is Big there...so we just have to play it by ear....

If anyone wants to just join in on Sunday that is cool too... :spongebob

:spongebob Well here is reality...both Holiday Inn Express (155 Friday Nite/185 Saturday)and Comfort Inn (155 Fri or Sat) these rates are if you have a AAA Card.

Sooooo I think I am going to just do a Day Trip....seeings that there are only a couple of Boats coming down....I can't justify dumping $300 or more for lodging for 2 nights....

We found the public ramp...ya need to get a pass to launch there....its only $10/day.... if ya get caught launching without...its about 5 times that amount....its located just under the Bridge...just directly across the water from Red Eyes and Harrisons Crab house....

It should be noted that neither of the Hotels Parking lots look to be too Friendly towards parking your Donzi in there on a Trailer.

On the good side the water is very calm in the area of the Ramp and Channels....looks to have a current...

We had Wings and Poppers at the Jetty...they had enough dock space to hold a few Donzis...didn't stay for the Bikini Contest....but I noted the finals are Sept. 12th!!!! At Red Eyes...we pulled in about 2:00pm and the Bikes were rollin in jockying for a parking space....

Let me know if there is still interest...given the above...otherwise...I'll bag it and just hang up North where its not sooo costly....

I do think we could have a fun time down that way....but I would like to see more than a few boats....

Doc

Greg Maier
08-15-2004, 04:45 PM
Doc,

If you are going to make it a day trip, maybe everybody should meet over in Annapolis. That way, you could launch at Sandy Point State Park ($5 to launch). We could all meet in Ego Alley, run over to St. Michaels for lunch. Run through Kent Narrows, stop at the Jetty for a few beers, and then run back to Annapolis. That would be a full day with some nice places visited and probably 75 miles of running. I would prefer Saturday if we were to do something like that. What do you think.

:smash: Well it's 9:00pm on Tuesday Nite...and I just got in from working on the Donzi.....I was under the Trailer and doing some Spot Inspection and I found Two very troubling items.
1.) One of the Cross Members has Fractured Again! It was already Welded and Thru Bolted...the year or AOTH III. And it has fractured outside the Welds and the Thru Bolted Plates!
Not Good and I would not feel comfortable Towing this thing as is....around the Block! So I have a neighbor who has a Shop less than a Block away...I am going to see if he can do something.....

2.) Even of more concern... (this likely happened coming back from The Jackson Run)... there must be enough Flex in the entire Trailer System...to have allowed the Keel to Hit one of the Axles and Chip about a Half Dollar size hole down to the Base Fiberglass......in otherwords I am seeing raw glass there!

I am not a Happy Camper.....if I can't get both items repaired immediately...not only will I be unable to make it this weekend...but I may not be able to make 1000 Isles?

Because I just discovered this late Tonite...I can't even call anyone 'til the Morning....

Now to start my Santa List; MYCO, Extreme, Loadmaster, NexTrail, Fastload......etc.

I will plan on being in the Alley as scheduled...I have had some interest from some 18 Classic owners who would love to cruise with us....but don't want their Butts kicked in the Bay...maybe we can include water that is user friendly for the masses? Is the Severn Nice? I really don't care where we go ...as long as we're runnin....always great to be with other Donzis...

This certainly isn't going to turn into a high speed run for me, since my passenger doesn't care to go over 50 mph. I would hope that we can all stay together. I know where some calm, enclosed water is if anybody wants to do some high speed flybys. We could pull in there and see what Doc can do with the Blue Pill. It is a pretty safe area with no wakes to sneak up on you.

Doc, the weather I saw says bad for phila area, don't know about down Annapolis way. If it looks OK I'll be there :shocking: . Where do you plan to put in? I'm slightly familer with the area around the South River, bought a 32 Trojan there a few years back. I know where the Severn is but not any of the ramps. Let me know if this is still a go. :garfield:

Get some good pics guys, I'd love to see the old stomping grounds.... errr......waters!

There's three crab houses in that area, western shore that are a must.
Mike's Crab house is on South River just before the second bridge.
Cantlers is on Whitehall creek and had/has gas and Riverdale Inn on the Magothy.
Might have to call Riverdale Inn, have'nt been there in a while. All these have ample docks. Sandy Point has the best public ramp on the west side and the best closest public ramp on the east side is just under the Narrows Bridge across from the Red-eye.

Ego Alley is where the Boat Show is held. Basically, it is a canal that goes into the center of town.

:spongebob Well its 7:05pm on Saturday and the Sun is finally out....we had a small Monsoon up here this afternoon...

Good thing is it cleared up enough where I could patch the nice little chip where the Keel smacked the Axle on the way home from the last Run. Found some Marine Grade Putty/Epoxy basically...and it dries white and sands down like no bodies business...I am ready for 1000 Islands now.....

I am sure it will decrease my speed to the low 80's so Todd is gonna have to go easy on me and not emabarrass me toooo badly! :biggrin.:

See Everyone in Annapolis...I am going on a date with my Bride and try to charm her with my ahh "Stethiscope"...

I'll be at Sandy Point in the morning between 8:30 and 9:30..
