Anybody know where I can find just the planes without any of the brackets or hydraulics?

Martini Designs(Victory Trim Tabs) is doing work on the K Plane brackets, so he may have templates for the tabs already...Ed

Let me Guess. This is to prevent you from launching into orbit? If so, Price out two sets:biggrin.:
me don't like when the boat goes vertical.

Mike,
You got it! Blackhawk has them on his Yellow Hawk and says they do a good job of making things a bit easier to drive.

Bennet made longer tags that mount right into the existing holes and have another set of holes about an inch higher. I just put them on my 22 classic and my whole world changed. Cost $55 at local boat salvage yard They came off an old (Chris craft) and I got four actuators and an extra pump. yeha I love a goood deal and a smooth ride. Why not fabricate extensions?

You don't get it? These are Kiekhaver Tabs not Bennetts. Different ball game.
Speedwake makes a replacement 280 K-Plane but pricey at 900 bones. Look for used set @ 300 if your lucky.

ps. I can't spell

The hole pattern is exactly the same as the bennetts.

"What don't I get" and why do some of the people on this site think they are almighty?

Maybe I should cancel my registration and simply network amongst my friends who know boats. One in particular has a 22 classic that broke 100 mph with a pad modification to the hull.

Current project is having the stringers strengthened with a carbon fiber system. But hey I don' get it.

Ford,

Share with me your experience..I have been searching for a pair of used merc trim tabs for sometime now...Nothing..I missed a set on Speedwake by two days..Damn.

Nowhere have I heard and seen a replacement bolt on re/re tab made by bennett to fit the Kiekhaver tab set up? Fact

They make a 9" chord or a 12" chord..That's it??

The M80's won't work or the M120's
The St series aren't even close..

Show me part numbers, links, pics.
Speedwake has a replacement bolt on set 24" long that would be great but just a little too $ for me..

I have been toying around with an idea to fabricate a peice that would extend the short Bennetts.

I just picked up four more actuators and have extra trim tabs.

I will have two bennet actuators per tab and would like somewhere between 12 to 18 inches of tab for a 22 classic with 700hp.

What size boat, weight and HP would be the questions but I think you could save some $.

Thanks Ford

I would suggest 12"min but 24" for those kind of speeds and HP.
Also you need forged steel ones with distances past 12" as there would be too much flexion on a stainless tab. You risk pulling out the through hull bolts, bending tabs yaddayaddayadda. The hydraulic tabs really are the way to go.

My boat does just over 80mph and I have scared the living daylights out of me and my riders by going airborne on the third hop..:boggled: :boggled:

I just have to find some 24's somewhere ........one day..or I will continue to flirt with ............pushing the limits ....injury ....endo's ...ejection ..Yikes

Someone told me about a tab that is controled by an electric motor driving a screw VS hyderaulic actuators. Thus Faster response time.
I have not had time to research it yet.

Reinforced horizontal stainless ribs would possibly reduce the fluctuation. I am also planning on a plate where the dual actuators would coneect to the transom to avoid any cracking in the fiberglass.

I think I blew up or burned out the tab pump on my 500+hp 22 classic last night but am not sure yet why they stopped working. It's amazing what the tabs do to stabalize the ride, and at about 10 degrees, lift the boat higher out of the water reducing hull friction etc.

Hig presssure trim pump is key. Also external hydraulic steering(IMCO) made a significant impact on stability. Bravo 1 HD imco shorty, low water pick up.

I have a set of (I think) 280S tabs complete minus hydraulics. Email me at whiticar40@aol.com or call 772-260-4446 if you are interested. Thanks!
