I hope Fishboy gives an opinion; but, others might also know the answers.

a. I often hear the Z-33 referred to as the "Crossbow". but, it's my opinion that the Z-33 was first introduced in 1986 and not until OMC took it over, did the name "Crossbow" apply to the boat, in 1990. True or false?

b. What specific date was HULL#1 of the Z-29 & Z-33 put into production? With the Z33 coming on strong, the Z-29 model seemed to then, fade away; but, when did it actually go out of production and why? Would it be fair to say that the dealers simply ordered the Z-33 in favor of the Z-29, thus making this model somewhat obsolete. Did OMC decide to discontinue it with the 1990 model intros.

I know the timeline of most of the Genth/Staples era events; but, I am missing this part.

I have a 1988 Donzi portfolio that calls it the Z-33 Crossbow. 1989 and 1990 it was listed as Crossbow also. I understand it started in 1988 when the gull wing type hatches were used. The gull wing hatches caused legal issues between Donzi and Cigarette and changed in 1989. The 1989 portfolio shows "Crossbow" script on the hatches. My 1989 did not have the script??? My 1987 portfolio just calls it a Z-33. I can't find my 1992 info to see what it was called then??
For the Z-29, production ended when the 30 footer Black Widow was introduced in 1990.

Richard, A is false, the Crossbow went into production prior to 1990, it had a sink with running water in the cockpit as well as in the cabin and some had gullwing hatches on the deck. I had a 1988 and loved it.

B: I had a 1987 Z-29 that actually belonged to Dick Genth,
it had airconditioning. Not sure of the first year of either nor the last.

Jody would know more on that.

For what it's worth - I looked at Z-33 Hull #7 last year when it was for sale up here... It had the 2 plexi hatches (not the gull wings), TRS Drives and was Gray and Red.

I have the hull number listed in my Z boat hull # spreadsheet...I couldn't remember the month code after I looked at the boat - which is why it's a X - but the rest of if is taken straight off of the boat:

Richard,
to the best of my recollection, the crossbow was introduced in late 1988 or early 1989. I beleive the 29 ended in in 1990 as mentioned above, but I am not positive. Budmann is actually the best one to ask as he was there on a daily basis during this time.
