after hitting something and tearing up my drive, dinging up the prop, haveing it reworked the boat really propoises alot more than it did, lost about 600-800 rpms. looked thru some old threads(thanks greg m)and called hoss props in o.k and talked to dave bostic, quote "easy 7- 12 mph gain" out of his new set of props for 2400.00. this guy did all the r@d for merc on these drives. he said he can rework mine to get them back to where they where for around 400.00. the problem with these props is they are marked 31 but are really front 30 and rear 32 and the guy that did mine didnt know this. what do you think tat??????

I have a yet to be installed BH drive and from what I have read the props are in fact different sizes front to back, I am sure one of the pros will clear this up pretty quick.

Robert,
I have heard the same thing on the pitch being different. One of our marine guys worked for Merc during the BH era so will ask him. He is sending me a modified set that he has laying around to try. Will be interesting to see what they do.

I'm definitely no expert on this but I would say some pitch was added to your props when they were reworked that made you drop the rpms and porpoise more.

I know when I tried some cleavers on my boat they were 2" different pitch sizes between props so it makes sense that the stock ones would be.

What style of props does Dave make? 7-12 mph is a pretty bold promise!

I read in Extreme Boats that PROROC Marine Performance (www.procroc.com) can convert a Blackhawk into a single prop drive which will fit a #6 Prop. The advertisement said that it works very well. They also do this to standard Bravo Drives.

I remember looking into the single propshaft a few years ago. It was pricey and if I remember right the speedmaster props aren't cheap either. All this stuff costs so much money without any guarantees at all if they will work!
