Out of curiosity, and the fact that they seem to "grow on trees" in the USA, I am curious as to what they command in the way of price in your various states.

Here is a link to a local site that seems to outsell EVERYONE here on the Island due to price and fairness.

http://www.kenevansford.com/

Check out his Used Vehicles Section for pricing. To convert a "Kilometer" to miles, multiply kilometers by .62 and you will get miles.

I priced out what I "would like" if I won the Powerball and 290M$ and it comes in at about $58,000. for a One ton (non-dually) truck. Here it is...

http://www.ford.ca/main/default.asp?section=23&garageID=70126&language=en&sVehCategory=FordTrucks&model=F%2D350&modelID=5181&acode=CAB40FOT13AC0

Then on top of this, we pay 14.5 % tax so it would cost me $66,410 dollars when all is said and done. That is $50,000US.

If we buy any vehicle OTHER than a one ton (350) there is also an incremental "luxury tax" that starts at $30K at a fixed percentage and then goes up to the next benchmark with each additional $10K.

What do you guys pay?

Well I can't speak for what it would cost you today but I picked up my 1999 F350 Crew Cab Dually in May of 1998 and I paid less than $29,000 USD. I love the Ford empoyee's "A plan". I got every single option available (leather, AM/FM/CD, Towing pkg, etc.) except the diesel engine, I opted for the V10.

I put down $15,000 cash and financed the rest, 60 payments at $289.00 per month which comes out to $32,880 total cost including interest, tax, title fees, license plates etc.

Lenny, you saw my '03 7.3 F350 dually at C-land. It's a loaded Lariat with ALL the toys. I paid $34,500 out the door in Oct of '03, today it would be about $36,500, no more than that with the 6.0, maybe less with the crazy rebates out there today. Your 15k ahead to buy it in the US, and drive it across the pond...

Lenny; What break in the taxes are you getting?? Ontario is
7% PST 8% GST= 15 % When you add the 43% exchange,the Victoria price isn't that far out...Ed
PS, Don't let our southern friends know we can't claim the interest on our mortages on our income tax.

Ed GST is 7% and our PST is 7.5%. The US dollar costs us $1.34 today. It is not THAT bad,..yet.

Also, today I found out that we can bring these trucks up here, BUT, we have the two taxes to pay, as well as a $1000 entrance fee, the speedo has to be changed out to kilometers  and an emissions certificate is required.

So, Jims' truck would be ($35K US basis reference)
35,000 + 1000 entrance + 12,000 (difference of dollar) + speedo changeout ($500) = $48,500 Can$ + $7000 in taxes
= $55,500 Can and we haven't had it shipped yet or the emmisions done.

So it looks like it would be about $7500 cheaper to buy it south of the line. The warrantys' work in either Country the same apparently.

no "luxury tax" on a 350 (1 ton) in B.C. Scot. 150's-250's 1500-2500 etc are considered "luxury's here" but not 1 tons...

My neighbor paid a tad over $43,000 for his new F350 powerstroke everything you could think of in options. Almost bought another Excursion LTD fully loaded for $42,000 and change. Alot of the slightly used inventory on our dealers lots are former Canadian vehicles.

What's the %l lux tax?

Hmm.. paying a lux tax on a 2500 has got to beat the 1% tax we pay to purchase a house in NY state :o
