The 18 Classic I used to have had a "whistle" installed in the fuel tank vent line. While adding fuel, it would whistle until the tank was full so you knew when to stop adding fuel. When fueling my 22 I regularly dump fuel out of the vent or burp it out of the cap. I searched online a while back for these with no success. Does anyone have a lead on the "whistles" or some other such aide?

Phil,
Got a part number for that whistle?? I had one on my 152 Medallion and it is a great thing to prevent fuel dumping.
Thanks,
Bill

Phil - I think that whistle is for fuel oil tanks - not marine gas tanks. I did find this fuel line overflow protector at Boater's World and West, but don't think it is what I had in mind...

Any leads would be appreciated...

Sorry for the mistake was very stressed last night, a family member was thrown from his horse and is in a coma. I was killing time before taking my daughter in law to the air port. I'm cooking on about an hours worth of sleep.

I got the number for the fuel fill whistle manufacturer which I tried along with all the other new area codes. they may not be making them anymore. The problem we see with the preventer style is the check valve shuts off and the fuel comes up out of the fill onto the deck. They call it a preventer yeah prevents it from coming out the vent.

Only number I could get from one of my suppliers who has not seen the whistles in awhile.

I installed this overflow preventer. No more spillage out the vent now but still get the big burp of fuel back out the filler. What a mess every time.

Greg - your link is what I am looking for but the contact info is no longer valid.

Tim,

Simple answer. Don't pump the fuel in so damn fast. I used to get a geyser out of the filler neck, until I SLOWED DOWN! Now I only get a small spill out of the vent tube if anything at all. No whistle, no gimmicks, no need. It may take a couple of extra minutes to fill the tank, but it's worth the clean deck.

Oh yeah, be sure to ask the attendants at the docks to fill her slowly too.
