I have been trying to establish a liability insurance umbrella policy to provide additional protection (Donzi, pool, teenage boys). Thought I had one set-up but the agent just called and said it was rejected due to my boat. He looked at another and it would exclude me for any boat that exceeds 50 MPH and because I have a driver in the household with less than 1 year’s driving experience. This exclusion is going to be around for a while because my other son will start driving next Spring. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to find coverage without all the exclusions?

Tim,

I have never been able to get an umbrella that includes the boat, so I carry extra liability on the standalone boat poilcy.

Maybe somebody out there will have better news.

...I carry extra liability on the standalone boat poilcy...

Yeah, I'm looking into that as an option. What limits of liability are you/others carrying on the boat? I am currently at 100K each person / 300K each accident.

500,000, I am be sued by a TV injury lawyer right now on a wreck involving my teenage daughter, and I wish I would have had more than the 100,000 at that time.

I have a $1,000,000 umbrella and that includes jet ski's, Donzi and 1 son 18 years old driving everything we own.

I have a 1m umbrella with Allstate. Seems to cover everything. Guess I won't know, unless I need to use it.

I was trying to get a $1 Mil policy - jet skis and Donzis are not allowed under the 2 policies my agent dealt with.

Crackerjack - who are you insured through?
