View Full Version : Please Check In - by Region

I know based on just the few number of folks that showed up to our Lake Chelan gathering that don't ever post, that there are many lurkers out there. I'm curious as to how many people actually check the board regularly, and from where.

So, I'm putting out this poll (which I'll try to sticky for 1 month) just to see how many visitors each region represents. We'll stop keeping track on July 26th.

Even if you never post - please take the time to vote.

Thanks,
EG

I apologize to Canada - I had to lump you all together because I could only have 10 choices. :rolleyes:

I was tempted to post Great Lakes, as I am 10 min. from Lake Ontario. But at the very scum of the poll, OOps, meant bottom of the poll, there was Canada in all its glory...Ed

Great job Eric! I was curious myself as to how the weighting of regions and users would pan out. Nice to see some empirical process applied by a fellow UW Alum.

This is the first time I've ever seen NY and NJ considered to be in different regions of the country :confused:

I'm assuming that you just did this to seperate Matty and Pearson :wink:

Great Idea, I have always wondered this myself. I hope some of you who visit and do not post take a second to click a region on the poll. If your country is not listed, how about doing a reply and letting us know where you are from.

The regions are based on a very scientific basis....I copied the regions used for searching on Boattraderonline.

I wished I could have included all of the other areas (I know we have a few from the caribbean and europe, but I was stuck with the 10 item limit.

Can one of the moderators make this sticky?

If I remember correctly, NY and NJ are both considered mid-atlantic states.

Shouldn't FL be in both the gulf coast region and the southeast region. Last time I looked FL had more shoreline on the gulf then it did on the atlantic.

actually new york is considered to be part of new england, and jersey is a rented red headed step child :tongue: but here in the tri state metro area ( ny city, long island, nj north of exit 14,ct south of fairfield,westchester and rockland) we refer to any place else as the country, the sticks,upstate, or the shore ;)

LOL- Matty, you did nail this one on the head. Perhaps a new pole is in order:

* Tri state metro
* The sticks
* Upstate
* The Shore

Glorious Upstate NY, South shore of Lake Ontario, 45 minutes from the Finger Lakes, 3 hours to Toronto, 5 to Montreal, 6 to Boston, 3 to the Adirondaks, 3.5 to the Catskills, 3 to the Thousand Islands and the Seaway. Not far enough from NYC. :biggrin.: :biggrin.: :biggrin.: :biggrin.: :biggrin.: :biggrin.: :biggrin.: :biggrin.: :banghead:

Since when is Illinois part of the Great Lakes region? I have ALWAYS been surrounded by cornfields...not "great lakes." Someone needs to revise that sucker...then the MIDWEST will be in second place...or not. Voted Midwest, but livin' in a "Great Lakes" state...who knew?!?!?!

Did I miss something in elementary school geography class? The last time I was in Chicago, I looked to the East and there was a BIG lake out there!
However I've been to your part of Illonois too, and if it wasn't for climate, it would probably be a great to raise rice it's so flat.

I am closer to St. Louis than to Chicago...and I spend most of my free time in Indy, so THERE!!!!!! And if Illinois is a "Great Lakes state" why isn't Indiana? We share borders....

Just trying to stur up some ****!

Anybody wanna buy my Classic 18? I want a BIGGER boat, and I can't use my old hoist now anyhow, so now is a great time for me to buy one...but then I have to buy a new hoist, too...there's always something.

George

I live in Colorado, but I boat the most number of hours in Missouri, can I register as 1/2 person in each part of the country? I see that we have (7) so far in the west. With California included, that usually means 6.8 people in California and .2 in the other 10 states based on population.

Don

p.s. - How many Donzi owners do we now have at Lake Of The Ozarks in Missouri?

If all the Donzi owners in Michigan had computers and logged on to this site, the Great Lakes area would be running right with all you Florida guys. Unbelievable how many rare Donzi boats are up in MI.

EricG
07-28-2004, 02:46 PM
So, a one month sample of the Registry in the middle of the boating season, 228 members voted. Seems about right for the amount of posts we see.

I am still surprised by the number of boats I see in this area who's owners don't ever show up here. To me, the best part of Donzi ownership is the comeraderie that comes from other owners on this great site. Oh well, it's their loss.

I suppose since the poll is closed, it can be de-stickied now :)

Well it stands to reason that most oweners would be in FL.

But I'll take Matty's idea...and twist it a little (Some people would say I'm a little twisted). OK, so the poll should only have (2) categories.

1. South of I-10 - Heaven on earth
2. North of I-10 - Cold, most of the time.
