I have been trying to post pictures. I think I got the hang of it. Just had the Shortie installed and I am going to take her out tomorrow and see what happens. Here's a couple of pics. Thanks Harbormaster for all the help with posting pics. :biggrin.:

Jim, The steering is from Marine Machine. Full Hydraulic with a 2.6 lock to lock ratio. I think it was a 3.5 or 3.8 that came with the steering. The 2.6 is much more responsive. Very Happy with this setup. :)

Thanks everyone. Todd please don't tell my wife this. I'm trying to talk her into a procharger :D . On 6/12 I went out to a local lake for the first time since the new lower unit. The boat ran 73 mph @ 5300 rpm with the Mirage Plus 23 p. I had my dad with me and half a tank of gas. I went out yesterday in the intracoastal with my wife and the same amount of fuel and same prop. The boat would not run over 70 mph @ 5100 rpm. I asked my mechanic and I asked Geoo could the tempature have played a factor in the drop in mph? I then went to the same lake the boat ran 73 at and it only ran 70. I tried my Hydro q4 with almost the same result. I'm not sure of the temp on 6/12, but we ran the boat early in the am. Temp yesterday was about 95 and it was around noon. Hoping nothing went South. Boat was very strong. Thanks, Jim

The mods look GREAT !!! :) Another following in the footsteps of Ted and Todd. How come some have (22's) K-planes and some ST's ?

And that 1:50-1, 200 rpm and 3 MPH GPS loss at 23" of pitch sure makes the slip equation a lot easier to work with. :D

I get 200 rpm x 60 minutes x 23" pitch = _____ /12 inches / 5280 (1 mile) / 1.5 (gear ratio) = 2.90 MPH

Where's the slip??? A 76.95 MPH perfect reading (no slip) at 5300 and 73 actual indicates a 5% slip  doesn't it? OOOORRRR, are you running a 1:34 drive ?

Nice looking ride.

Lenny, as for the K-Planes or the ST's I would guess it's personal prefrence. I understand your formula (I think), but I am curious to know why it ran 73 in the lake and 70 in the intracoastal. I was under the impression that salt water was faster. It is a 1:50.1. It seems that everything I do to the boat it has little or no effect. Except for those couple of early morning passes in the lake. Here is a list of Mods so far:

[list]
454 Mag MPI
Stainless Marine Exhaust
Reprogramed ECU to 5500 Limiter
K&N Filter
Imco Shortie 1:50.1

Same GPS or are you using GPS for this equation? Did you ding a blade on the Intracoastal run ?
Same trim angle as before ?
Tabs out?

and last but not least, sorry, but I have to ask this, does your wife weigh more than your Dad? :D :D :D

Was your dad with you the last time you went out back to the same Lake?

Is he more aerodynamic? ( parted hair, Brylcream, polyester? )

And, how come you were only 4 miles per hour off of ZERO slip originally? 76.95(perfect) versus actual 73...That seems too optomistic, doesn't it? 5%

Also, isn't 5300 a few high for a big block?

Same GPS...YES, Prop Damage...No, Same trim angle...Yes, Tabs out...Yes, Weight difference...No, Dad was not there last time out. Hair...Flat top no Brylcream, no polyester. :

Lenny, I'm kinda new at this. Are you saying the boat should be running faster than it is? Or slower.

JIM, THE AIR ON 6/12 WAS TREMENDOUS. I had my 4winns out of Hillsboro cut that day, and running 57.3 GPS w/ 3 people, fastest it's ever run 3 up. The next day, by myself, it ran 57.4. Usually with 3 or 4 up, freshwater, it runs 55.5.
