Not sure how far back some used the HO firing order, it is 13726548 if the other does not work. HM may have used it.

Might be an 85 or newer just for ****s and giggles try the other numbers, no telling what has gone on with the engine since 69.

If you are used to chevys you should know that SOME small block Fords are numbered 1-4 front to rear on the starboard side and 5-8 front to rear on the port side. My '67 289 HiPo is like that and it took me a while to get used to it. It has the same firing order as Rootsy posted.

Haven't seen an answer from you that you found the correct firing order. Have you? To add some fuel to the SBF cylinder numbering / firing order, some aftermarket 221 - 302 SBF cams use the more common firing order which the later 351 SBF used. Almost all the 221 - 351 (inclusive) cams I have seen use the 351 / 302HO firing order with the change indicated in the specs somewhere. I had a special Shelby "R" cam in my road race 289 that changed the firing order back in '69. It was supposed to make the engine breath better and run smoother at extremely high rpm's. Could H-M have used one of these cams?

Guess! If it has been sitting for awhile riser gaskets. But if the exhaust checks out, I would check for head gaskets. Take the outlet from the sea water pump and route it over the side, to be able to run it without sea water for a minute or two! Then pull the T stat housing and belts, can't have any pump distrurbance must have still water, make sure the block is full to the opening. Start it do a few littles Gooses and watch for bubbles in the T stat opening in the maifold, no bubbles you can rule out head gaskets.
