I am going to change the oil in my boat myself this time.. In the book it calls for a SAE 30.. I want to put snythetic in her but can't find it in just 30. I have been all over town. what do I do? Is there another weight of oil I can use or should be using?
Thanks :kaioken:

mercruiser now recommends 25/40 W, I normally run texaco ursa 15/40 W and change at 30 hr intervals, my 02 cents

You may have to do the dealer locater thing for the brand you want to find one close that stocks what you need. My 2 cents the switch to synthetic should be done early on maybe 35 hours, it will still work fine later on but seems to find all the weak gasket spots and can be a bit messy. That said it to me is the only oil that should be in any engine after a decent break in. They last longer and run cooler and burn a little less fuel, I have run several of my vehicles over 200K sold them local and they are still running. Also I believe it is still a stock item in new Hyper Vette and Porsche models that in it self says something.
