Over Memorial Day weekend, while pulling into the boat slip I was using,I hit the bumbers on the slip which unfortunately had been nailed in place. I caught a nail and put a 3foot scratch in my 22zx. I just got an estimate from fiberglass specialities on the repair. $1585.00. The scratch is the width of 1/4 of an inch. This price seems high to me. I have never had fiberglass repaired so I'm not sure if this is how much this should cost. Also I'm worried about matching the paint. My stripe is black and gold, the scratch runs through both colors. Also does Donzi clear coat with poly-urathane? Some advice would be greatly appreciated. Would it be better to try an auto body shop for the repair?

Just an idea, I would call a few local dealers to see who does there work, I know from having worked many years at a dealership they us the best guys with decent prices.

I am confused. Why are we talking paint? Is it not Gel-coat? a 22ZX is not an old boat and I think it should not have been painted yet.... ??? ???
