Kimberly & I are in!! We've been trying to keep our performance schedule open, great to have definate dates.

Next we have to coordinate the road trip.... I think it starts in Maine with the Weavers, then through NH for the Bandits, then to CT for Geo, then through Jersey for the Pearsons, then down to PA, for Doc & Liz, then to VA for brad and Amy....... By the time we get down to FLA we could have quite the convoy, Just a thought.

Looking forward to this party, by the way Mike, will there be Kareoke???

Hey gang,

:shocking: Got a contest for all of you... need a name for the Rally this year. Last year was Saraosta Siestaaahh. If we pick your entry you get one night's hotel FREE! Send them in quick.

Think sun, fun, relaxing, friends, horsepower, classics, etc.

Well, things are cooking down here in Florida! Getting all the details together for a July 1st post. Make sure you are ready and waiting so that you can call to book a room.

My feeling is that this year there will be so many more people due to the extra notice - so you'll need to book early to get a spot! Hey, I may need to get a back up hotel for the spillage!

Keep dreaming!

A Donzi Looks At 40 (in the Buffett style, of course).

Congratulations to Bob Wilson who wins a free night's stay at the rally!

The Rally, logo, t-shirts, bags and all other items are now being designed around this theme.

Get ready to relax, have some margaritas and cheeseburgers, and be with good friends on a Donzi!

Mike,
There is a photographer who attends all large boating events that the Hotrod outboard guys have. He takes great stuff and is familiar with the ins and outs of getting amazing shots of fast things on the water. Also can line up a helicopter if you want. I can contact him or you can contact him if you are interested. Also has a mobil unit that prints photos on site, or can get them from his website. Let me know if there is any need or interest.

When I was talking to the girl I said I was with the Donzi owners group and I wanted to reserve a room with a marina view. As we're talking she says "OK Deluxe room with marina view is $140/ night", I asked if there were marina views for $125/night and she said yes, but they are not the deluxe. I said thats OK. She automatically placed me in the upgraded room. I had to ask for a $125 one. Single room with king bed, marina view $125/night is what my reservation is.

We are in and packed prop testing complete for ythe Criterion, 3 GPS onboard-no sand bars this year.Closed cooling working for the salt water. If trans and motor hold up were there else its Corsican time. but that isn't a bad alternitive. Its actually really good in that type of element, in some cases better than the Criterion.

She automatically placed me in the upgraded room. I had to ask for a $125 one. Single room with king bed, marina view $125/night is what my reservation is.
This is exactly what we got. My wife made the reservations and had the same thing happen. She told the women that we were with the DONZI GROUP and that we were quoted 125.00 and she said 125.00/night Marina View. Kingsize Bed.

Just a thought....will there be a Donzi convoy headin down 95 through GA and Jax??? would be cool to roll into town in a big ole convoy.......just throwin it out there......i would pick it up at the state line. I also recomend fueling yer trucks and boats at exit 1 in GA. Gas is much cheaper there. Would be perfect place to meet up, large parking lots right next to the highway....and only 5 mins from my place...lol

Hey gang.

Great to see all of you prepping for the Event! What an event it will be!!!

I am so sorry for all the confusion on the room rates. I am talking with the Hyatt this morning and trying to get their Reservation department on the same page as us. Will notify all of you of my progress!

Also, docking fees are taken care of so if any of you are told to pay extra let me know and I will handle it.

Small details - they'll kill ya everytime! But hang in there - its only a small price to pay for a Family Gathering!

See ya.

MikeMiller
07-20-2004, 08:00 AM
Okay.... here we go....

A deluxe room ($125) is a room with a balcony (that could be any where in the hotel including marina side). I negotiated this price to be the same as the standard room (while supplies last). I have spoken to the Hyatt and they are making the change in the system regarding the price.

Now... if you have requested a marina side deluxe balcony room and were quoted $140 - don't worry 'bout it. The Hyatt will internally make the price change for all who have already booked. At check-in ALL WILL BE GOOD!

ALL DELUXE ROOMS (MARINA VIEW OR NOT) ARE $125 AND ARE FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED! (I am sorry if they sell out of these deluxe rooms).

All slips are taken care of and there will be no charge to you!

Whew! What else? Bring it on! I've got chunks in my stool bigger than these issues!

Until next time!

But I have my room. I hope the price thing works out since I was quoted the $140 price thing as well and took it anyway. Best view of the year... lots and lots of Donzi's.....

I had to post this here so everyone would see it!

I would guess that with the number of Donzi's attending this years rally that we could put something together?
Maybe an auction for a ride given to the models with pics for a price? Now I know that would be a hit! Not even an auction, a set price per girl for a ride and pics? All proceeds to benefit our own charity? The Donzi Registry!
Or just pics? Whoa, and then post the pics on this site for all of those that "couldn't" make it!!!!!!

Just as an FYI to the rest of you laggards...

The Hyatt is overbooked for Thursday, 9/30. Mike, if you can work your magic to get us in, I tried all the angles and I've wrangled with many a reservation staff over the years.
Confirmed for Friday and Saturday nights, no problemo!

El Doctore, I reserved a slip, just in case. This mamby, pamby, first class whiner, who can't find a Great Lake around here without rollers the size of Moby Dick is suffering from a serious case of late summer arrival, dramaine overdoses, and water time deprivation. The adrenaline really kicks in at the top end of the roaring thirty mile an hour speeds that I have been able to accomplish in this stuff. My blue pill would be better off as a diesel! Point taken, we will work on the logistics!

Seadogs do a St. Johns River weekend every winter, usually early December. Always fun. Then there's the Miami Boat Show in the middle of February, and the Mt. Dora Classic boat show a month later. We winterize our boats by running them :wavey: . The Dora weekend in particular is getting big as a get-together for us Donzis. Poodles X boat is old enough to be allowed in...I want to see him enter the first Donzi in that event.

Phil,
I was thinking we would bump that December event to November 12-14, because it was so chilly on that first Saturday in December. We kind of all muttered something to that effect last year. I'll start a separate thread for that thought and we can discuss it there.

George, I'll be happy to keep a very close watch on your boat all winter here at my place and make certain the engine oil and drive fluids get plenty of warmth and circulation. Also, flights are cheaper to JAX. AND I have a buddy who would be thrilled to tow you anywhere in Florida to ride with you during the winter months. No need to leave it WAYYYY down in South Florida. Safer here, too. And lots of fresh water. And FIVE Hooters to boat to. And two awesome poker runs in the early Spring to run.

07-27-2004, 07:10 AM
GEOO,
I was just talking to John McGary (MvGary911) about the same thing this weekend. Just seems to make a little sense; not having ti winterize and look at it sitting there- have it in FLa, come down and boat all winter.

Most of the get togethers seem to be focused in the West-Central area like the Tampabay area or the South FLorida area around Miami/Ft. Lauderdale since those are the areas where there seems to be lots of seadogs. But most of us have trailers and location is seldom a problem for any of the Seadogs to come to (including a few northerners like bverd and air22 who trailered down to the st. johns to boat during the winter). Most of the get togethers are informally put together but it seems to work for our group of spontaneous boaters. There are also a lot of S&F'ers in the same areas that I am sure would welcome you as well.

South fla is usually a few degrees warmer than tampa bay,and tampa bay is several degrees warmer than north fla. Seldom gets too gold to boat thought no matter where you are.

I hope you decide to bring MM down and spend the winter with the dogs.

Hey Gang! We are soooooooooo close to greatness and party-time!

I have received a number of entry forms and checks and that excites me! Shaping up to be pretty impressive.

But... my Florida contingent has been slow in reponding with entry forms and checks. I noticed from my Hyatt rooming list that there are a number of guests coming that I don't know about.

Not to be a pest, but if the Florida gang could send me their forms and checks that would make my world a whole lot easier. I need to know headcount for food and beverage costs and also be able to buy those cool bags and goodies.

Thanks to all who have already entered and paid. I can't wait to see all of you once again.

PS: I have a pretty cool surfband wanting to play Saturday night for FREE! What do you all think? One of them owns a Donzi and will bring it!

PSS: All rooms at the Hyatt are booked solid!!!!! Sorry. If any one needs to cancel please notify me and I can use that room for someone on a waiting list! Holiday inn Airport is only 10-15 minutes away and nice as can be for our event.

Talk soon.

Hey Mike,

I am guilty. I have been holding off sending my check, because I am in the middle of rebuilding my engine in the Hornet II. My mechanic is working as slow as molassas. I am very worried that my boat will not be ready for the rally. Needless to say I will be beyond mad!!! This directly affects the number of people that are coming with me.

I am just going to drop off a check to you this week for me. I already sent my form in. By the way, what is the absolute deadline for the registration fee!

What is the preliminary head count and boat count?

Thanks again for doing a great job! Again let me know when you need some help.

WOW MIKE!!!!!!!!!

189 replies? That would mean, say 70 or 80 Donzis?
Damn son. You out did yourself this year!!! Give little Mike our love, and with any luck, Catch and myself will get them damn Donzi's together in time! Lori says "Hi" and looking forward to some pool time with you and the little one, dare I say little?
As a safety net for Catch, I bought an innertube and painted "Donzi" on the side of it, it wont be the first time I've towed him around the lake!! :)

We survived Frances, it was rough, but could have been alot worse.12 days without power and cut off from the outside world. Baby made it, other than us, that was all that mattered!

PS, a Purple Pill has been born!!

BabyDonzi, so glad you made it through the wreckage okay!! Does your final PS mean that you had a Baby with DonziLas? Fill me in.

That many replies does not necessarily mean that many boats! I have a guarantee of 31 boats now woth approximately 5 others that may be there. Time will tell.

Can't wait to see all.

Oh... don't forget - I need a ride!!

Donzi Di
09-23-2004, 09:29 AM
Hey Mike - Have you determined what route we are taking on Saturday? Remember - we only have a 16' and personally, I don't want to get clobbered out on the open water.

Depending on the route, we may end up taking the boat out on Friday and Sunday (assuming we are going to the island) and begging for a ride on Saturday.

Donzi Di :) :)

MikeMiller
09-23-2004, 10:47 AM
What are you worried about, Donzi Di?

The route will take us north but not across the Tampa Bay (although others will choose to go into because its an awesome ride). We will skirt with the bay for a short jog but nothing serious. That is what a 16 is made for!! I don't believe there will e any problem.

Most of the boating is in Sarasota Bay which is a Classic's dream!

No worries, eh!

Hey Mikey!
First, the Purple Pill is Baby's new heartbeat! Las did mention something along the same lines as you suggested, but I talked her out of it, one baby is enough for this year, anyway!
And second, did I see something about the helicopter? Mike, you are the man! For those of you who have not "flown" with the copter, you will never get better pics of your ride (and Donzi Girls) than you will with this!
And third, here comes Jeanne, you know, enough is enough.
Catch 22 and I are trying to finish up last minute preps and it seems that the weather is hindering us? It's get the new engine in, whoa, wait a minute, hurricane, batten down the hatches. OK, we made it, lets get the Corisica's in, whoa, wait a minute, hurricane, lets do it next week. OK, exhaust complete, lets get to the wiring, whoa, wait a minute, HURRICANE..................................

Welcome to south Florida!

Our three best kept secrets-------------

Early spring, late fall, and (yes, you guessed it) Hurricanes!!!!!!!

We will be at the rally come hell or high water, wait a minute, sounds like the the last 30 days?

And you know that we always have room for you!!!!!!!!

1 Charlie
2 Frances
3 Ivan
4 sale!
Any offers????????????

MikeMiller

Looks like the Rally is going to be safe from any Hurricanes! Will be between a couple though. Jeanne is expected to be out of the area by Tuesday and behind her are a couple of dying storms.

Do I know how to pick 'em or what?

Those of you who are working on your boats - I'm proud of you! I know its hard work but I can't think of anybody better than you guys to do it!

Hang in there. Keep plugging along. Keep dreaming of margaritas and cheeseburgers and beautiful women. And before you know it you'll be basking in the sun on the beach with a cold one and lots of friends around.

Mmmmmmmm.....

Just a little note for those travelin south on 95 through joja....if you have any car trouble or need any help I live off exit 1 in GA. I'll be leavin Fri morn round 8 AM, arrive round noon. Just curious...what route do you take after the Fl state line to get to Sarasota? I95 to I4? If so there is a faster way...i'll share if anyone's interested.

09-26-2004, 08:19 AM
CG, glad to hear you are coming down. Not sure where in Joja you are but 75 is the best southern route unless you are over on the far east side. I-75 head directly down the west coast and goes right through Sarasota. I do not remeber the exit number, but you probably want to get off on fruitville road and head west from 75. take it all the way west until it dead ends and turn right. The Hyatt will be right on your left almost immediately after you make the right hand turn.

If you are closer to 95, then come down that to I-4 and take that across the state to 75 and then head south to sarasota. Get off on fruitville rd as mentioned above.

Sarasota guys, can you double check and make sure I am correct, this is from memory and I have been known to kill a few brain cells from time to time.

Cuda
09-26-2004, 08:25 AM
CG, I've made that trip many times. IF you don't hit bad traffic in Orlando, the fastest route is I95 to I4 to I75. An alternate route is I95 to I10 west to Hwy301. Take 301 to I believe it is 326 just north of Ocala west to I75 and go straight on down to Sarasota. There are many little towns with speed traps along 301 that way, including the most notorious of all speed trap towns, Waldo, Florida. Waldo annexed a part of the county just so it could have some land on 301 so they could write tickets.

:shades: Chrome Boy...Fish is correct...we go thru Waldo....very slowly...some great Horse Farms through that area.....Fruitville is the correct Exit. It dead ends ...bang a right....go up to the Boulevard of the Arts...and hang a Louie!

The Launch is just down the road about a 1/4 Mile.....also on your left. There is normally someone there to assist and direct on Friday...all day long. Trailers are parked within a mile of the Launch at a secured lot, there is a Rotweiller next door that looks very healthy too! :rlol:

If ya come into the Hotel, and walk out to the pool...someone will go over with you if ya need a hand. We are normally back there doing irresponsible things to our Boats...and admiring curves while we're at it...although we are importing some of our own Curves this year...to compliment our Fleet of Atlantic Coast 22's! :wavey:
