omc to mercruiser conversion

I am restoring an 18 Ft Donzi Classic 89' that had an OMC 350 with a King Cobra Outdrive. I am going to repower it with a new 350 MPI Horizon complete package with a Bravo I drive. Do I have to change the opening in the transom for the new engine package to fix and would the X dimension be different or can I just install without any problems? Thanks!

If you have a KC in good shape why dump it, they hold up very well even hooked to big blocks. Many members will attest to there being a tough drive, rarely hear of them breaking. Put you bucks into a good motor and go faster. That being said if you go with the new Merc package the swap is fairly easy, it has been covered in past posts do a search.
