Recently found an old style Morse shifter in good working order to install on my '72 18'. Have a bag of Morse parts so I should be able to get it configured. Even have a fresh chrome handle for it. The cover is faded black and at the very least will require repainting. However, I would like to have the original chrome look. (The 'OMC' sticker will come right off.)

Would it be possible (as in affordable) to get the cover chromed?

Someone suggested that powder coating could provide a reasonable approximation for a chrome look. Anybody out there familiar with this?????? Completely foreign to me.

Close but not quite. How to use the IMG function to get the pic to come up as part of the post???????

That housing is aluminum, a good powder coat job would work. You can chrome it but the process is a little more costly. Another thought is to buff the housing, you can clear or tint coat it. I've seen some really sharp tinted parts on some of the hot rods that come out to a local place in Southold.
