CLASSIC 22 WITH A 502

I am heading to a new lake this weekend and I just wanna make sure I'm in the clear for depth. I need to know what the draft is on my 22 classic at the dock! not under way. I'm told at the dock! I have 28 inches or 2 feet 8 inches, so am I safe?, should I sit with the trim up in trailor position or just all the way up in normal running position? If trailor is the way to go is it safe to run the boat at SLOW speed to dock it or not?

Thanks, Ryan, C22 W502.

You can run in the trailer position, but it is not recommended. The Merc manual says it's OK if under 1200RPM (that means idle). Running the engine with the drive all the way up is hard on the U joints. I have to do it on occasion because Lake St. Clair can be very shallow. If you can, bump the drive down at least a little (or as much as possible), or in other words, run the prop as deep as you can as anything deeper than full trailer is easier on the joints.
