What was the last year that Donzi made a port side helm on their classic series? I see some late 60's, and I think some 70's classics with the port side helm, but wasnt sure of the exact year. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't believe there is a definite cut-off. It seems to be based solely on whether or not the boat came with Volvo or Merc power originally. The 70's seem to be the true transitional period, but there are port-helmed volvo boats up into the mid 80's....

Here's a previous thread on the subject...Thread (http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?t=131)

I had an '83 18 2+3 with the port side helm. It was a Volvo 280T package.

. . . my '77 X-18 came with a right-hand Mercruiser 280 TRS and starboard side steering, but I also had a '79 Hornet that came with a left-hand 330 TRS package and had port side steering. Now to really mess every thing up, my '72 16 Ski Sporter with a factory installed "888" Mercruiser, which had a right-hand spinning prop, and like all Ski Sporters back then, it had its helm on the port side. That was because the way the cockpit was molded didn't allow it to go anywhere else.
