I have a stock Mercuiser 350 mag and Telefex steering wheel. I took a quick look under the dash and in the engine compartment but it was not apparent to me how to make this adjustment. Man, that engine compartment is crowded! I admit I could not really see much of the steering mechanism in my quick peek back there.

Is it a regular rotary helm? If so it is quite easy to fix.

OK mark the bottom of the wheel for a reference point later! Go under the dash loosen the cable securing nut. Turn the wheel slowly one direction it will feed out of the helm as soon as you feel a ratcheting stop you have are ready for next step(have rag handy). Now you need to pull the cable core out just a little bit to be sure the cable is not in its teeth and the wheel is free, move the mark on you cable to where you think you want it and release cable and feed it back in turning the wheel the opposite direction. Try it to see if you need a little more to get it perfect which is usually the second try!

Got it. Thanks. Makes sense. I will give this a try next weekend.
