I'm sure this has been covered a million times before but I couldn't find anything in the FAQ section so I am making it 1 million and one.
I have an ad in the Donzi's for Sale section for my 1986 Minx and would like to ad pictures to the ad. How do I go about doing this?

Go back to your post hit the edit button, scroll down to Manage Attachments and click it. A new pane will open, go to browse fing the photo and click open and it should load. One caveate if you have a Pop Up Blocker you will have to hold the shift key when you click on the Manage Attachment button.

MOP I have tried to add the pictures but nothing seems to happen. I clicked the Manage Attachments button, found the pictures that I wanted to upload and clicked the upload button. It only seems to load one or two pictures and then just sits there. If I get lucky and get all of the pictures to load what do I do then? What button do I click after the pictures have loaded?

Try uploading them one at a time.

I'll give that a shot but what do I click on once the picture has finished uploading?

Use the "Manage Attachments" button to open the upload window. "Browse" to fine the file you want. "Upload" to upload it. Repeat the browse/upload for additional files. (I have had trouble trying to do more than one at a time.) When you are all done use the "Close this Window" button to close the manage attachments window. Then just press "Submit Reply" to post or "Preview Post to preview.

Once you upload the file the filename will appear in a list just above the "Manage Attachments" button. You need to wait for the file to be uploaded before you close the "manage attachments window.

1996Z15,

Just using your post to "learn this picture thing", thanks for your inquiry, think I am getting it also. This is the 2nd test. The "preview" does not seen to work ..... but the post does .... and suggestions?

I would expect that all the problems that you are having, is because the images/file sizes that you are trying to upload are to big. The system times out after 360 seconds. Would suggest that you upload individually

My suggestion would be to open paint and crop the photos...you can even add text to the photos should the need arise. Then save cropped image and you are good to go

Hope that helps!!!

All photo programs allow you to resize, guys on dial up have the most trouble due to the time out thing. Usually 3X5's go right up, guys on broad band can load big ones many times so big they take for ever to load and view. If they are to big I don't let them load some are twice screen size even on my 19", I for one consider it rude and inconsiderate to post huge photos. Over 70% of the US is still on dial up either by non availability or by choice.

MOP,

Thanks for you input, but from someone that knows nothing about this "photo thing", but trying ..... are the photos I posted to large ..... you help is appreciated. I simply "copied" from a photo program already installed.

Thanks

Penbroke and your photos not only were perfect size and retained very good clarity which most of the larger ones do not.

Okay. Phew! That took some time because of the dial up. I'll try adding one picture at a time. I still haven't seen the prompt for downsizing the photo before posting. When I was playing around earlier and building this smaller folder of boat pix to choose from, I briefly saw "resize pictures" in the file choices. But when I open this folder, I can't seem to find that cue again.

I want to thank EVERYONE on this thread for your help! I went back and did the right click thing and found the resize section. I picked the smallest size and selected it for all the pictures on the thread about my new boat. Now even 'OL MOP can look at those in the big. I am using dial-up and these loaded up so fast in the small size that I was able to jump to loading a bunch at one time. And it all happened quicky. Fellow dialer-uppers need not fear!
Thanks for the excellent helpers who responded for us novice picture posters!
