can power steering be added

I would like to add power steering to the 1969 sweet 16 i bought can this be done it has a volvo 250 drive
can any shed so light to this subject

It is possible. I have a 68 barrelback that was fitted with power steering before I got it. The person who did it used arneson steering rams that were mounted to the back of the boat. He also put in a hydraulic helm and belt driven power steering pump. The motor that is in the boat is a 351w. The stering is fully hyraulic and has no cables. I think that kits are made now that you could combine with some custom parts to make it work, they can get expensive though.

Take a good look at a Merc setup on someones boat, I have seen the whole Merc setup adapted. A bracket needs to be fabbed to duplicate the Merc pivot mount, then you can grab all the other stuff off Ebay cheap. Usually the Volvo's steer pretty easy, is you binding?
