After working on the new 18 all week, yesterday was finally the day I got to splash her. It was also our annual Opening Day parade/Windermere Cup crew races in Seattle. Since we have been having unbeiveable weather for spring here...there was a record number of boats out for the day. It turned out to be a perfect day of boating with the new boat :D

The Pics are:

--------WOW, Eric. Lenny keeps telling us there are no D-boats anywhere near the left coast. You have the makings of a good west coast DONZI meet right there. Get all those fine DONZI owners hooked up to the DONZI Registry.

Great shots Eric, yes the weather is getting unreal here it seems. We are on parrllalell to, say, California 20 years ago I believe. Hope you have fun with her. Soon we will be able to have a "gathering". Find that X owner, get Jeff out of bed, hook up with those other 5 boats you talked about, we'll get Mike Miller down from up here, myself too, and soon it will resemble a small group. :D

The D boats need special permission to be any farther North, IE: "Lenny Land"!

Eric,

Looks like you had a great day for a maiden voyage. How does the boat run? There's nothing like that first day in a new boat. It sure is a beauty.

We have that gathering already planned:
2004 PNW Lake Chelan Gathering (http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?t=33979)
Now, if I could just get some of these strangers to show up...

The boat ran great....here's what I've learned so far:
1. I need more storage!! After getting used to the cuddy and 8.6' beam of the Z - this is a new challenge trying to fit all of my stuff into the 18. It's kind-of like packing my Motorcycle.
2. Going from a right-handed zero-effort throttle to a left-handed morse (with a shift knob the size of a softball  ) is taking a little getting used to. I'm gettin there...but it's different.
3. I haven't figured out what to do with all of the free time I now have since I don't have to think about trim anymore :biggrin.:
4. So that's what accelleration feels like...DAMN!, I could get used to that.
5. I love the Lean.
6. My other boat was really, really loud while underway (something about that side exit exhaust). It's nice to be able to carry on a conversation while boating.

Overall, I love the new boat. Saturday was more about the party than the actual boating.... The next trip will be about really getting to know her :biggrin.: :biggrin.:

Looks like a fantastic day. I can't wait to come on down and stock up on some Henry's and cruise the water. Lake Washington/Kirkland it's all good. I'm almost a 100% I'm in with the BH for Lake Chelan. Can't wait.
