The boat is stock. I would like to keep the existing engine just looking for a cuople bolt on parts that I might be able to get a few more mph .

thanks

8 mph for 2500 bucks give or take... Alpha SS...

i have all of the engineering done for mounting to a GEN II alpha transom assembly:D i've done 2.. mine and sam pilato's 16... best bang for the buck...

Or i guess we could go modifying your engine.. that;s always fun too...

or you could play with some props..

if we only knew who what why where and when...

JR - give me all ya got Scotty!

I picked up close to 5 mph. going from a 2bbl to a 4 bbl. and K&N flame arrestor . I went with a cast iron 4 bbl instead of aluminium as I am always in saltwater. the manifould was 189.00 the carb is an edelbrock 600cfm # 1409 with the kit for a 4.3 . the carb was 279.00 the kit was 27.00 . the flame arrestor was 98.00 . I am happy. maybe next year the alpha ss . maybe root will want to get out of the cold for a little while and be willing to do the swap for food, booze, women, shelter

Hi Jason, which 4.6 V6 do you have, as I recall there was a 195 hp version and a 235 hp version in 95? Second how fast are you going now and what is you goal? Third, what is your goal? Also how many hours are on your 9 year old motor to make all the money and time worth it. I had a 1998 18 running a 2 barrel carbureted 350, making 250 HP, running a Bravo 1 drive. The boat ran 65 mph confirmed, I wanted to run 70+mph, this would have taken 100hp. I would have had to do a 4 barrel carb, new intake, more aggressive cam, at least. The 350 Mags make 300 hp and run about 68 mph, so you get the picture.

Correction, in 95 the base V6 made 175 hp and the optional V6 made 205 hp. Sam a new prop is great if thats all you plan to do but if power mods are extensive prop testing should be the last thing on the agenda. Again he needs to determine what motor he currently running, buget, speed goals, hours etc.

Arch,
Add 6' to the boat, 502 with blackhawk drive and it will do wonders for your speed!!!

You could loose some weight and not by the low card diet either. I picked up the GLM aluminum exhaust manifolds and that cut out 90lbs - $595 from mooreperformance.org , but may be cheaper for you. I have a BB

Bary, your right but the question was " how to get a little more speed". When my boat was bone stock I picked up 3 mph via a new prop. Dollar for dollar a prop is the fastest, cheapest place to start. Now the real question is how much can he spend and is the cost worth the gain.
