update, the 270 is sold. the 250 with the nose cone is still for sale. it is a nice unit still on the boat. all painted and ready to go. oil changed 3 times a year. droping price to 550.00. give me a call or email if you need other parts. also the lower case after closer look i see that the fins on the intake for the water are broken out and glassed up. it had the spair nose cone on it. and the water was not used. i will sell it for 25.00. the shalts are fine its just the water intake. thanks for looking.

Looked at Matty's upper housing this A.M. He's got some teeth missing on the upper gears :banghead: . But I think he is determined to make the Lake George trip  .
Question: Where are the gear ratio's different for the 4,6 & 8 cylinder drives? Are the upper gears and lower different on each? or is at least one part of the drive that's always the same?

I know these Volvo drives are like Maytags; but sooner or later you'll need the repairman.

4, 6 and 8 have the same gearset up top. The lowers (where vertical meets horizontal are the parts that are different.

1:32 or something V-8, 1:61 V-8, then 1:86 6cyl, then 2:15 4 cyl.

Thanks Lenny, Matty and I will try an easy test to see how many turns at the prop per revolution. Sure glad I asked before buying larger pitched props to try. I was told it was from a v8 powered boat; but who really knows.....bought it on ebay.
