Help..... I am changing the waterpump impeller on my '74 Mercury 150 outboard and.....the "shift shaft assembly" is fused together. I can see the coupling but I can't get it apart. So the shaft stayed in the upper part of the drive not the lower unit. I have used about 40 gal. of WD-40 but it is still stuck :kaioken: . Does anyone have any ideas on this?
PS I have used all the "spicy language" I can think of but that has not worked.

Nothing that a torch and bottle of the "Captain" couldn't take care of.
ITS APART! but........... now I need all new pieces. Oh well I could always buy new. But that would take all the fun out of it.
Thanks Bob

Glad to hear it Bob, and I hope you are getting the help you need. There is nothing sweeter sounding than an engine you put back togehter yourself... unless there is a box of parts left over when you get done ;)
