We went on the Opba Spring Poker Run this weekend.
Milling before the start. We had a police escort throught the ICW.
And we're off. The Opba pace boat next to us.
The start in this spot is always the worse. My boat is tough to drive when a wake comes straight on my beam, so this time I figured I'd get out front and stay out front until we got into the gulf. It was a good plan. :) Much smoother ride.
First stop the Vinoy Basin. Our card boat had problems and wasn't there yet. Also, there were swimmers in the basin for the Triatholon. They weren't supposed to be in the water before 1 pm. The president got the card boat on the phone and we met it in the middle of the bay to pick up the cards.
From there we had a long run under the skyway, down the bay, out into the gulf south to Longboat Key.
Safety first. I was happy to see most people wore thier lifejackets. The last run we went on, my boat was the only one with all occupants wearing them.
Lunch stop was at Mar Vista. Mucho eye candy on this run! :yes:

We made the run back to St Pete today with our friends Glenn and Charlene Wilson.
It was a great weekend, with perfect weather.

The smallest at this run was a 25 Outlaw, but I don't think our club has a set minimum. Bring the Criterion! :biggrin:
